    Went to Lowe's to get flooring and had no idea what I was looking for. David the man in the cowboy hat who worked in that section took the time to explain the different types of flooring, how to find the matching examples, helps me understand the different protection layers and helped me load it while checking on other customers and taking calls. He was busy, but still took the extra time.

    False Advertising and Poor Leadership John Maxwell said the key difference between businesses is how they treat people. This Lowe's failed that test profoundly. On a recent visit, I found foam insulation on a clearance display. The sign was clear: "$4.72" and white boxes were on display. The description foam insulation. Exactly what I was looking for. I wasn’t aware what was in the boxes but for $4.72 I could risk it. I grabbed two and went to check out. I found a clearance display clearly marked $4.72 for sealed white boxes of foam insulation. Associate Lucas stepped in—professional and kind and attempted to find the correct SKU, He opened a sealed box and scanned an item inside, which rang up $18.72 instead of the displayed $4.72. I showed a photo of the clearance sign. Lucas (new) called for help; a young woman and then team lead Jarrod came over. Both were courteous, reviewed the photo, and agreed my expectation made sense. This is when Assistant Manager Mason arrived. He repeated the same process—starting with the white box, then scanning a loose piece from the box—but then insisted I pay $18.72 per piece, not the $4.72 per box as advertised. When I pointed out the display was for the box, he dismissively said, "They put up the display wrong. I will not honor that." His refusal to correct the store's error and his arrogant demeanor were unacceptable. The difference between the helpful staff and the failing manager was stark. For the sake of less than $30, he lost a customer. I purchased the items from a competitor instead. A business's integrity is shown in how it handles its own mistakes. Here, the leadership chose to disrespect a customer rather than honor their own advertised price. I’ve included a picture of the display.
