I’m a totally and permanently disabled veteran, and this has been one of my most frustrating retail experiences. I went to Lowe’s to buy Pergo TimberCraft Chester Ridge Hickory. The in-store display was mislabeled as “Wells Branch Hickory,” which caused a special order of the wrong product. I waited from Friday to Wednesday for that order. I loaded 12 boxes at the store, drove home, loaded those 12 boxes into my house, and only then discovered the mistake made by the Lowe's associate.
I reloaded all 12 boxes, drove back (I live ~30 minutes each way), and picked up the correct flooring (they applied a 20% discount which I was happy with). While loading the new flooring, a Lowe’s associate rested my truck tailgate on a metal loading cart, leaving visible scratches.
After I began installing the correct flooring, I found three problematic consolidated return boxes and brought them back:
Box 1: 9 planks taken from three separate boxes that had already been opened, used, cut to box length, and repackaged, returned (not inspected) then resold.
Boxes 2 & 3: 18 planks total (9 each) assembled from other boxes with corner nicks/imperfections, and some had a goo-like adhesive residue on them.
Today, before returning those three boxes, I spoke by phone with Manager Tammy about both the tailgate damage and the resold/defective boards. On the phone she said she referred the case to corporate. When I arrived in-store later, she told me they reviewed the footage and “did not see” the tailgate being rested on the cart. After that conversation, I checked the area myself: there is no camera at the loading door that I could see; the only visible camera is in front of the building to the right of the loading door, a vantage point that cannot actually capture the tailgate contact on the cart because my truck was backed up beyond the front of the building up to the loading door.
Despite everything, the only remedy offered was to reapply the same 20% discount I received for the original mislabeling on the 3 replacement boxes, no additional consideration for the repeated errors, the vehicle damage, or the significant physical strain involved.
What went wrong (each step):
1. Store mislabeling led to the wrong special order.
2. Vehicle damage from an associate resting my tailgate on a metal cart.
3. Resold returns: opened/used planks cut to length and repackaged.
4. Defective stock: additional planks with corner nicks and sticky residue.
5. Questionable video review: no camera actually covering the loading door where the incident occurred.
6. Inadequate resolution: only repeating the original 20% discount despite multiple, compounding failures.
In total, this has been three trips, 27 boxes carried into my home, and 15 boxes carried back out, a major physical burden for me given my disabilities, plus ~1 hour of driving per trip. I appreciate that Tammy forwarded the case to corporate, but her handling of this and major inconveniences incurred by me have been unacceptable.

It appears that I’ve been charged multiple times for an order. How can I resolve this?
These charges are likely authorization holds that are placed throughout the life cycle of your order to ensure the funds are reserved for your purchase. When you place an order, your payment method is authorized for the full amount of the purchase. As items from your order ship, your payment is charged and the authorization is no longer held by Lowe’s. Orders shipped in multiple shipments will be charged separately at time of shipment; therefore, you may see multiple charges, but they'll never exceed the full amount of your order. For orders with longer lead times, your method of payment will be reauthorized to ensure funds remain available until your item is shipped. If you observe multiple pending authorizations, please contact your financial institution as each bank’s policies differ on how long authorizations are held.
