  I had a remarkably long association with Safestore (Slough). They looked after a lot of my things (art, collectible spirits, furniture, clothes, all sorts) for more than two decades while I was mostly out of the UK. And they did so seamlessly and well. I had no complaints in the whole time I was with them. I finally emptied my unit a couple of weeks ago, and all my possessions, even clothes, were in precisely the same condition as they were when I left them, albeit less fashionable. While Safestore is not cheap, the service is high quality and I think it offers decent value. I particularly like the way they could give me discounts as I changed units a couple of times (once for a larger and then a smaller unit) and paid less on each occasion. Considering I was out of the country, the fact that I could always reach a human by e-mail was greatly appreciated, and their response was always prompt, polite and helpful. In the flesh, their people were always obliging. When I finally closed my unit, the manager said to me, “Goodness me Mr Clark, you have been with us a long time. This is a sad day, we must mark the occasion. Perhaps we’ll retire your unit. Or maybe put up a plaque.” I hope never to have to use a storage service again, but if I do, I would not hesitate to go back to Safestore. A clear five stars.
