- YYYYJan 17, 20261.0The Lowe’s employee named Leigh Anne at this location is absolutely racist. This morning, we came to this Lowe’s for a children’s workshop that we had pre-registered for online. We were standing in line patiently, waiting our turn. A white family was behind us, also waiting patiently. When it was finally our turn, Leigh Anne—the white employee running the entrance—stopped us and told us to wait, then allowed the white family behind us to go in first. She said to them, “You guys are special today. And I’m special too.” This was said out loud, in front of many children and a very diverse crowd. I was shocked and disgusted that someone would display such open racism in a space meant for kids and families. Even the white family she favored looked embarrassed and later said they didn’t understand why she did that. I did not want my children to absorb or be affected by this disgusting behavior, so I took them inside first. I then came back to confront Leigh Anne. I also spoke with an African American employee who identified himself as a manager, and I did so in front of Leigh Anne. I told the manager she's not special either since she's not white. And when the manager asked Leigh, she didn't answer it directly. Then when I asked if Leigh could swear that she didn't say it, she was saying something else instead. I expect a real explanation and a serious investigation. I cannot understand how a person with such blatant racist behavior is allowed to work directly with children and families in a diverse community. This was shameful, unacceptable, and completely against what any family-friendly business should stand for.
