The Macon Water Authority was formed in 1880 by an act of the Georgia General Assembly to serve as a public corporation. It provides municipal water and sewerage services for the city of Macon and Bibb County areas. Some of the departments of the Macon Water Authority are water distribution, sewerage conveyance, and laboratory and environmental compliance. In 2007, it was one of the six pilot communities to participate in a statewide educational program on outdoor water conservation. In 2009, the American Water Works Association (AWWA) conferred upon it, the honor of the Best Tasting Drinking Water in North America.

- RSRowdy SolomonAug 31, 20221.0I am beyond disappointed with the service we have received with MWA. As I was working today, I received a call from my wife late this afternoon. She told me that my 11 year old daughter called her and told her our water has been shut off. My wife called and they cut the water off because we were told we owe $7.43. We were given no notice of this in any manner. We didn't receive mail, not email or a call about the amount due. We paid the 80 dollars we were aware of when we got paid. To put the icing on the cake, because of the time of day we were told there is no guarantee that someone will be out to cut our water back on even after paying and extra 5 dollars online on top of the $7.43. The customer service representative said it doesn't matter if it's a quarter, they will cut the water off. This type of experience and behavior is a significant departure of the conduct I would expect of any company. Representatives need to be retrained and ordinances and procedures need to be updated to ensure proper notice and time is given to customers. My family has to go without water for a whole night because of 7 dollars!!! This is not okay and no one deserves this type of treatment.
