We had a dismal experience with The Home Depot store (Wesley Chapel and Buckhead), customer service hotline, and delivery service.
Hence, we left Home Depot, went to Lowe’s (stonecrest), opened a credit card, purchased a refrigerator, and have delivery scheduled for Friday (2/6). This took less than 35 min. It took Lowes (Home Depot competitor) to make things right.
My home depot experience is documented below...
Home Depot review:
My husband and I went into Home Depot to purchase a refrigerator and had a very disappointing experience from start to finish.
At the time of purchase, we specifically asked about both the Veterans discount and any Home Depot credit card discount. We were told by the associate that **both had been discontinued**. The following day, my husband learned this information was incorrect: the Veterans discount is still offered, and instead of a 5% credit card discount, Home Depot now offers **6 months no interest**. He had to call customer service to correct this misinformation. While the representative was helpful, this should never have been necessary.
During the purchase, my husband personally typed in our **correct delivery address** himself while assisting the associate. We reviewed the paperwork, completed the purchase, and left assuming everything was accurate. I later received an email confirming delivery for Wednesday (2/4).
On the day of delivery, the driver called to confirm the address—and it was **wrong**. This was shocking, given that my husband had entered it directly. We were told the system “suggested” a different address and the associate must have selected it without our knowledge or confirmation.
My husband immediately contacted Home Depot and spoke with a supervisor. We were told the address could not be corrected the same day because the ZIP codes were different and that our **only option was to cancel and re-order**. However, the refrigerator we had purchased—already sitting on a truck—was now listed as out of stock in the system, making re-ordering impossible.
This entire situation was exhausting, frustrating, and completely avoidable. We took extra steps to be involved in the process to ensure accuracy, yet still ended up with misinformation, a delivery error, and no flexibility to resolve the issue.
After canceling the order, we went to the Home Depot closest to our new residence (Wesley Chapel) to see if they would sell us a comparable refrigerator and honor the price of the original one, since it was unavailable due to Home Depot’s error. They declined, explaining they did not want a markdown to affect their store’s profit margins and reporting. We were told to go back to the original Home Depot location to resolve it.
We then suggested completing the sale over the phone with the original (Buckhead) store to save time and reduce further inconvenience. They were unwilling to do so.
At this point, we were extremely disappointed. We were under the impression that Home Depot is a company that prioritizes customer satisfaction and that any location would be willing and able to help repair a situation caused by internal errors. That was not our experience.

How do I place an order with a tax-exempt account?

It appears that I’ve been charged multiple times for an order. How can I resolve this?
These charges are likely authorization holds that are placed throughout the life cycle of your order to ensure the funds are reserved for your purchase. When you place an order, your payment method is authorized for the full amount of the purchase. As items from your order ship, your payment is charged and the authorization is no longer held by Lowe’s. Orders shipped in multiple shipments will be charged separately at time of shipment; therefore, you may see multiple charges, but they'll never exceed the full amount of your order. For orders with longer lead times, your method of payment will be reauthorized to ensure funds remain available until your item is shipped. If you observe multiple pending authorizations, please contact your financial institution as each bank’s policies differ on how long authorizations are held.
