On my way home from my parents house I decided to stop at Lowe's this evening to pick up a couple things
During my 30 minute visit, I had one gentleman ask me if I needed any assistance. One single gentleman. Little did I know that he would be the only person who interacted with me in a store bustling with associates.
To the Early to mid 40s African-American gentlemen who works in the Back of the store around the garage door Openers and plumbing hardware, thank you for acknowledging my presence as a human being and asking if I needed anything. I told you no because I was looking at toilet seat seats and it felt weird to ask for help. The other time I have been in this store the same gentleman helped me and an older Customer of mine find a garage door opener. He was very kind and helpful both times I was there. This is a good guy, with great Customer Service skills And a willingness to help. I wish I would've gotten his name. I will go in there again and hopefully I will get his name and add it to this review because that guy deserves a promotion. He should be the manager Because he obviously cares about his customers and their experience in the store.
Not a single bit of eye contact or any words from anybody else until as I was walking out the door I turned around and Said "I will have a good night, thanks"
They sure did watch me like a hawk as I was scanning my merchandise and inputting my cash into the machine. They wouldn't take their eyes off of me, Not a word from any of them though.
The manager on duty was leaned up on a display - he a Mid 50s to early 60's African -American gentlemen, tall with a deep voice - didn't catch his name though - Was very busy talking at the young girl - maybe 16 or 17 - Who was in charge of the registers. He made sure to ask her what time she gets off work this evening while several other people stood him, watching her work and watching me ring in my items. All without saying any words to me. As I'm struggling with a computer, obviously having an issue, still no words. I eventually figured it out myself. Thank goodness because obviously there was no help for Someone like myself. Specifically, a paying Customer.
I wanted to sign up for a Lowe's account and was hoping I could do so on the computer since nobody was asking me anything or communicating with me whatsoever. But apparently I couldn't and I couldn't figure it out so I just gave up. I just moved into a new place and I have a lot of updates and renovations to do and was really looking to build Some kind of relationship with some employees there to help me through this process as I spend many thousands of dollars in the store to make my living space more suitable to my needs. Unfortunately for you guys, I will not be doing that in your store because I think there are other places that will be more helpful.

I'll probably just keep going to the Lowe's in Buford. They don't have as good of a selection and the story isn't as nice as this one, but damn at least I can get some help there. They have probably a third of the employees on hand and I still get better help!
Hopefully, for the sake of all customers and employees, there will be a new nighttime manager before too long that promotes customer service and helpfulness rather than trying to flirt with the cashiers and disregarding customers entirely While leaned up on a product display watching the people work around him like he owns the building.
As I typed this review, sitting in my car just outside the doors, I continue to watch him do the same thing to the next two customers who came out the door. The gentleman who left after me left visually frustrated just like I did. And the lady who left after him was expressionless.
Definitely nobody walking out the door with a smile other than that Manager guy Who obviously thinks very highly of himself and enjoys hearing himself speak.
