I return more products than I buy. Customer Service is non-existent. It's all self checkout and self service in locating goods. Just eliminate the staff and make it all automated at this point 💁

I’m writing this to be fair and honest. I regularly shop at both major big-box home improvement stores and spend at least $5,000 a year between them. For projects that take time, it’s common to buy extra materials and return what’s left once the job is finished. One store with an orange sign consistently makes that easy, even well beyond 90 days, which makes choosing where to shop simple. Lowe's does not. Lowe’s enforces a strict 90-day return policy, which is their right. The issue is that this policy is not clearly posted where customers can see it at the time of purchase, nor is it printed on the receipt, as required by Florida law. Instead, the policy is posted at the return counter and only pointed out once you’re already there trying to make a return. In my case, we had two small pieces of tile purchased so we could decide which direction to go on a larger project. Like many homeowners, it took a few months to finalize plans. Returning those two pieces would have cost Lowe’s nothing. They would simply resell them. What it actually cost them was: • A several-thousand-dollar tile purchase that never happened • A customer who will never shop there again This feels like a policy created by someone at corporate who has never stood at a return counter or understood how real home projects work. On paper, refusing returns over 90 days might look like savings. In reality, it drives away loyal, high-spend customers. While I was standing at the return counter, an associate stepped away to discuss a sizable new order. After being met with a rigid “nothing we can do” response, I told my wife we were leaving. That order went with us. Customer satisfaction policies matter. When one store prioritizes flexibility and long-term relationships and another prioritizes rigid enforcement, the decision of where to shop becomes easy. One last note: even leaving this review wasn’t easy. It took longer than expected to figure out how to post it, which likely contributes to the consistently low ratings seen across review platforms. Bottom line: strict policies without clear disclosure don’t save money. They cost customers. I’ll be taking my future projects and spending elsewhere.
