Ordered CGI windows from Lowe’s and it was AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE!
April 30, 2024- Contract signed for 10 windows
Jan 29, 2025- Window install finally completed
This BRIEF SUMMARY does not even begin to explain the level of INCOMPETENCE, MISCOMMUNICATION, and FUMBLING that occurred.
• April 26, 2024- The Lowe’s Sales Rep (Randolph) came out to take measurements and provide a quote. Once you sign the contract, you will NEVER hear from him again! He will pawn you off to call the Lowe’s Installation Support if you have any questions. Each time you call, you will speak to a different Rep and they will have to check the notes on file. If you do reach out to Randolph with any issues, he will not help at all!
• July 5, 2024- The Protech workers that were sent to install the windows were not speaking English, they didn't inspect the windows prior to installation and they didn't inspect their work after installation. They installed a molding with a notch taken out of it, did a sloppy job with the caulking (some missing) and didn't clean the windows after install. They used my bathroom without telling me and damaged my door. They didn’t repair it correctly so it still does not work properly.
• Aug 30, 2024- Almost two months later, I discovered a large amount of water sitting in the tracks of some of the windows and I discover that weep-holes were missing in five of the windows. I immediately notified Protech, Lowe’s Installation Support and Lowe’s Corporate. DEFECTIVE WINDOWS HAD BEEN INSTALLED!
• Sept 2, 2024- When the replacement windows needed to be ordered, there was miscommunication between Lowe's Corporate, Protech, the Lowe’s store location and CGI which caused REPEATED DELAYS!
• Oct 30, 2024- Replacement windows to be installed. Come to find out, one of the windows was not correct and they needed to order yet another replacement window. Once again, more miscommunication between all involved!
• Dec 3, 2024- I asked Lowe’s about the screw cap covers for all windows as I had not received them.
• Dec 18, 2024- Final replacement window installed.
• Dec 20, 2024- Inspector came out. WINDOWS FAILED INSPECTION because SCREWS WERE MISSING!!!
• Dec 23, 2024- Roland, from Protech, came out to install screws
• Dec 26, 2024- Windows passed inspection
• Jan 17, 2025- Finally received the screw cap covers and installed them myself. I see that two of the windows have a few smaller screw holes and I question Lowe’s and CGI and ask for screw covers for those holes
• Jan 29, 2025- Roland, from Protech, came out to install trim pieces around picture window
• Feb 5, 2025- Finally get an answer from Lowe’s as to why two of the windows have some smaller screw holes (The screw holes were not properly bored out during the manufacturing process and CGI does not have covers for those screw holes.)
• Feb 6, 2025- I requested monetary compensation for this fiasco.
• Feb 18, 2025- Lowe’s Corporate offers me an insulting discount of 5.779% off the total cost of the windows. I request an additional discount for all the stress and aggravation over the past 9 months.
• Feb 20, 2025- Lowe’s Corporate offers a final compensation in the amount of an 8.65% discount and I must sign a gag order (Release of Claim).
• Mar 10, 2025- Final communication with Lowe’s Corporate. I refuse to accept their compensation and sign their gag order. I have the right to tell the facts of what transpired so someone else doesn't have to go through a nightmare with ordering windows from Lowe's. I RECEIVE NO COMPENSATION!
I had DOCUMENTED OVER 130 INSTANCES where I was in communication with someone at Lowe's, Protech or CGI regarding the windows. Not to mention the numerous people that were in my house (Randolph, delivery men, eight different men from Protech and two inspectors).
For Lowe's (annual net income of $7.7B) and for Marvin (compensation of over $18M) to offer an 8.65% discount is unethical. It is obvious that Lowe's is focused on maximizing their profits at the expense of the customers.

This is by far the best lowes in the area. I just started coming here and will gladly drive 20 mins to go here even with a lowes much closer because Dominique in the garden center. She is so friendly and helpful, it makes it a far better experience. They also seem to have better stock and the plants are always taken care of. The store itself is extremely clean and all the employees are really friendly here.

I typically like coming here, but man has the quality of service gone down.
I asked for an item that the website showed was in stock. The employee told me they had “no clue” if it wasn’t on the shelf.
The visit before I asked for plywood to be cut in half and was greeted with sighs.

Not worth even a star; ordered vanity online & it arrived broken, sidewalls cracked, scratches everywhere; returned it directly to delivery guys standing there, and then it took 2 days to process return of my money; never will purchase from Lowes online again - terrible - AI voice recording is condescending and doesn't allow any pertinent questions to be raised by customer - you have to follow their script that is irrelevant to customer needs; also, ordering process is baroque and takes forever to figure out if there is free shipping or not - Lowe's deliberately makes things complicated for the consumer in order to satisfy the existing business model of delivery contractors. OK, stores are clean and well organized - sure - but their online model is horrendous and the proof is in the product that always arrives broken - seems the feedback indicates this in spades but Lowe's is making too much money with a broken system so they are not going to change the way they do business. Of course, HD is not any better - both big boxes are trying to see which one can reach the bottom of the barrel first - don't like either one of these stores for online - no attention to detail in order, they ship broken items, no quality control at all - that is the new model of Lowe's - used to be better a few years ago but I am finished with them.
