I'm not positive of the cost because when I went to to get a few quotes from locksmiths I got the key so quickly it wasn't necessary for me to call around anymore, but I'm sure it would have been much more expensive. In my case, I was copying a key fob. They gave me the option to wait two or three days for an actual key fob or they would give me something that looks like a key but it's actually a transponder. I was very, very skeptical about getting it very skeptical if it would work and copy the transponder that I needed correctly, but it absolutely did. It was quick and easy and only 30 bucks. I am almost sure it would've been at least 80 to 100 bucks anywhere else. I highly recommend them.
