I trusted this facility to store my belongings safely for a short period of time — only about 2 months — and when I returned, I discovered that rodents had completely destroyed my couch. It is now a total loss. What makes this situation even worse is that I was never informed that this facility had any rodent issues. If I had known there was a risk of infestation, I would have never chosen to store my furniture here, especially something as large and valuable as a couch. There were no warnings, no signs posted, and nothing mentioned when I signed up. I spoke with the staff and was told that because I didn’t purchase their insurance, they are not responsible for the damage. But how is a customer supposed to know they even need to consider insurance for rodents when they are not told rodents are a problem in the first place? I am now left with a damaged, unusable couch and no compensation or support from the company. This experience has caused me financial loss and frustration. I hope this review helps future customers understand the real risk of storing their belongings here. If you choose this facility, be very cautious and do not assume your items are safe from pests — because clearly, they are not. The company should be held accountable for disclosing known issues, and they should take responsibility for their facility’s lack of proper pest control measures. I will not be returning or recommending Extra Space Storage to anyone. Evidence of something chewing on my couch, the video is more in depth. This don’t even do it justice I’m sure the mouse had babies in the couch.
