However, without my approval or prior notice, my rate unexpectedly increased to $150.00, with an additional $11.00 for insurance. I would appreciate some clarification on this change. ☹️
- PAPaul AlzamoraFeb 17, 20261.0I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Extra Space Storage and would not recommend this facility. The biggest issue is what feels like a classic bait-and-switch on pricing. The introductory rate seemed reasonable, but it increased significantly not long after moving in. The way the pricing is structured feels misleading — low to get you in the door, then raised once you’re committed. On top of that, management has threatened customers with fees and even collections over throwing away trash in the dumpster area. Simply disposing of trash became an issue, with warnings about additional charges. The tone of communication is aggressive and intimidating rather than professional or customer-focused. Snow removal has also been poorly handled. After a horrible snowstorm, the property was not properly cleared. Drive lanes and access areas were inadequately plowed, creating unsafe and inconvenient conditions for tenants trying to reach their units. Basic property maintenance should not be this inconsistent, especially when customers are paying steadily increasing rates. Another major frustration is that the site will close access for “maintenance” with nothing more than a paper sign taped to the door. No advance notice, no proper communication — just a sign. Meanwhile, customers are still charged full price even when they cannot access their units. Between the surprise rate hikes, threats over trash disposal, poor snow removal, and lack of communication about closures, this has been a very disappointing experience. I would strongly advise others to carefully consider whether this is the kind of business they want to deal with before signing a contract.
