Do not buy a Ricar vacuum. They are no longer a quality brand—just check Consumer Reports or Reddit for honest user experiences.
After moving to the area, I was genuinely excited to find a local vacuum store. We’d recently learned that companies like Shark and Dyson are making it harder for consumers to access parts or do basic repairs, so we wanted to invest in a vacuum from a place that supported long-term maintenance and wasn’t just another big-box product. Supporting a small business felt like the right choice.
Unfortunately, our experience was really disappointing. The store itself was chaotic and disorganized, which should have been a red flag. We were sold on a Ricar cordless vacuum by Pat, who claimed it would last a long time. In reality, it performed far worse than our previous Dyson and Shark models—and even worse than a $100 no-name vacuum we impulse-bought off TikTok.
We came back to the store less than two weeks later to return it and put the money toward something higher quality. Pat refused to give us a full refund and wasn’t willing to work with us to get what we actually needed. Instead, he just kept pushing Ricar.
After doing more research, it became clear that Ricar vacuums are no longer what they used to be—they’re now cheaply made, mostly plastic, and not worth the investment. It feels like this brand is pushed hard simply because it brings in higher margins, not because it’s the best product for the customer.
If you’re looking for a durable, repairable vacuum, save your money and go with something reputable like Sebo or Miele. We truly wanted to support a local business, but this felt more like getting upsold on junk than receiving honest, helpful service.

Fixed my Dyson vacuum. Was very fair priced and knowledgeable. I recommend to my house cleaners and their clients.
