As a real United States Marine Corps veteran—who went through the actual grinder of boot camp and beyond, where respect isn’t optional, humility is mandatory, and you treat everyone with dignity whether they’re a general or a civilian—I can say with complete confidence that this man’s behavior would never pass muster in the Corps. Marines are trained rigorously to communicate without ego, to de-escalate, and to stay humble even when you’re the strongest guy in the room. Hanging up on someone mid-sentence? Interrupting constantly? Treating a prospective client like an annoyance? That’s not discipline; that’s insecurity masquerading as strength. From the moment he stepped onto my property, his arrogance was on full display. He interrupted me repeatedly as I explained my needs, as if my input as the paying customer was beneath consideration. Every conversation felt like a contest he had to win by steamrolling the other side. Then came the follow-up phone calls. Mid-sentence—while I was still speaking, articulating a legitimate question about the scope—he’d just hang up. No “hold on,” nothing. Multiple times. Click. That’s not how professionals operate, and it’s certainly not how anyone with real military discipline behaves. In the Marines, that kind of disrespect gets corrected fast. Here, it just cost him a job. I didn’t decide against him impulsively. I weighed the facts rationally: the quote was workable on paper, but trust isn’t negotiable. How do you hand your property over to someone who bullies his way through basic human interaction? It was obvious his position as owner came from forcing his way to the top, not from genuine leadership. He’s all talk, no game. A true vet understands that real strength is quiet, respectful, and service-minded. This guy inflated himself with tight shirts and rude tactics because that’s all he had. It’s been several years since this happened, and I’ve kept quiet until now because of my ongoing work with the United States government. Time has passed, so I can finally speak out. If he reads this and says he doesn’t know who I am or that “it didn’t happen like that”—that’s predictable. Denials are the easy out when the mirror gets held up. But the facts stand. Do the smart thing: stay far away from Smith’s Landscaping. Find someone who is humble, who appreciates your business and who treats people with basic decency. There are plenty of solid contractors out there who don’t need to belittle you to feel important. My condolences to anyone who’s had the misfortune of dealing with this level of arrogance—customers, employees, or especially family (if he even has one that sticks around). No one deserves to be made to feel small just for trying to get decent service or do their job. I have posted this review earlier with the owner giving a cowardice response so this is my edit. Because accusations don’t erase facts. Dismissing a detailed, firsthand account as “AI generated” just because it hurts your feelings or rankings doesn’t make it false—it’s a convenient dodge. My review was written by me, based on my actual experience years ago: the interruptions, the mid-sentence hang-ups, the overall arrogance that clashed with any notion of humble professionalism. Now, after digging a bit more (as one does when skepticism is met with denial), I’ve noted that the listed business address is associated with a shipping company in the same commercial space. I’ll be reaching out directly to the people at that shipping company to ask if they’ve encountered similar treatment from this owner: rudeness, abrupt hang-ups during conversations, or attempts to assert dominance and make them feel belittled in basic interactions. If I learn of any patterns or corroborating experiences, expect a follow-up/edit review with those details. Denying or reporting doesn’t change what happened. It just highlights the same ego I described. Customers deserve transparency and respect—something sorely missing here. If others have stories, share them. Truth holds up under scrutiny, not deflection.

We recently had our backyard redone and are extremely happy with the results. The project included new pavers, trees, plants, lighting and a fire pit. Everything turned out beautifully. It was also exciting to watch the transformation unfold. Smith Landscape and Masonry were professional, efficient and easy to work with from start to finish. We would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade their outdoor space.

The level of professionalism, reliability, and quality of service has been consistently outstanding throughout our long-term collaboration. Communication is always clear and efficient, deadlines are respected, and the results regularly exceed expectations. It is rare to find a company that combines such high-quality service with a truly enjoyable and trustworthy working relationship. I highly recommend Stacy and his team to anyone looking for excellence, consistency, and a partner you can rely on long-term.

When I decided to transition to desert landscaping, my priority was high-quality workmanship rather than the inconsistent results I was seeing throughout my neighborhood. I selected Stacey Smith because many of the landscapes I admired were his work, and it was clear that he approaches every project with a high level of precision and care. While he is direct and opinionated, that is because he views each completed yard as a reflection of his professional reputation.
