  On may 28th of this year, I dropped off an arm chair and a matching footstool for repair. Mauricio, the owner, didn't happen to be there when I initially dropped it off (which is a reoccurring problem you'll find out), but his secretary told me I'd receive a call soon after regarding what can be done for my repair, plus costs etc. Seeing that people have given this place decent reviews I assumed I could put all my worries aside and trust my furniture would be in good hands, but 2 weeks after the initial drop off I still hadn't received a call. I returned to the store in person to see if I can get an update or even catch Mauricio should he happen to be there and guess what, he was! But this is the only time I have seen or spoken to him since. During my stop, he went over my piece with me and assured me he'd be able to fix it and he even said he'd be able to do it in 3 weeks! Now 5 MONTHS LATER, I have yet to see or get an update on the status of my furniture because Mauricio doesn't seem to care to call back, even after leaving countless messages with his secretary inquiring about an update. I even physically went back to the store hoping to get more information than I could over the phone. Guess what, still no Mauricio. Just his secretary and every single time I speak to her its the same thing, "Mauricio isn't here he'll call you back next week." Pending a call week after week, I still try and get through to Mauricio but I just can't seem to do so. So as of now, I still have zero idea about the status of the furniture I dropped off 5 months ago. I'd be willing to redact or even update my review once I receive my property back and assess the job he's done or has even yet to do. Who knows. But this is starting to get ridiculous.

  I was quite surprised to see my antique table end up looking like fake wood. I'm not sure why or how but it practically looks like plastic after they refinished it. Not very satisfied. 😒 And it took a week or so longer than they said it would.

  My 60+ year old mid-century walnut coffee table was dropped by the movers, crushing a corner on a curved side. I really thought there was no repair that would restore the edge smoothly. A friend recommended that I bring it in to Mauricio at South Bay Refinishing. They said he worked magic on a chair of theirs and now I believe them. Not only was the repair done perfectly, the cost was far less than I imagined it would be, the color match was exact, and he finished the job in a very timely fashion. Couldn't be happier. If you need any furniture repair or refinishing, don't hesitate to go to South Bay furniture stripping.

  Mauricio has been in this business his whole life and has a day or two turnaround on most projects. One thing he can do that others mess up is replacing worn out wicker on chairs or benches. Try him out he's hard to find because his door is on the parking lot side next to Boss Sports Nutrition.
