I purchased two toilet seats (Project Source brand, owned by Lowe’s) on separate occasions.
Both were defective out of the box — the hinge mechanism was broken before installation.
In the second case, the defect was clearly visible without opening the sealed packaging.
The store customer service refused the return for the first item, citing “opened packaging as a biohazard.” and kicked me to the manufacture.
This is not customer remorse or misuse. This is a manufacturing defect.
If Lowe’s chooses to sell low-quality private-label products, it should not shift quality control onto customers or waste their time dealing with returns for items that never functioned as intended.
Unfortunately this is my first experience buying stuff from Lowe’s, and it will be my last. I guess it is better to stick with Home Depot going forward.

These charges are likely authorization holds that are placed throughout the life cycle of your order to ensure the funds are reserved for your purchase. When you place an order, your payment method is authorized for the full amount of the purchase. As items from your order ship, your payment is charged and the authorization is no longer held by Lowe’s. Orders shipped in multiple shipments will be charged separately at time of shipment; therefore, you may see multiple charges, but they'll never exceed the full amount of your order. For orders with longer lead times, your method of payment will be reauthorized to ensure funds remain available until your item is shipped.
