I had an uncomfortable experience when trying to return an item I had just purchased. I didn’t realize one Christmas item was priced much higher than I expected, so I went to the return counter right after paying. The issue wasn’t the return — it was the way the employee handled it. She kept repeating, in a rude tone, “yeah, it’s expensive,” at least three times while talking to the cashier. It felt unnecessary and judgmental, as if I was being embarrassed for not wanting the item anymore. It’s not about the money, it’s about respect. Customers shouldn’t be made to feel embarrassed for deciding an item isn’t worth the price. Better customer service and tone would go a long way. A simple “No problem, I’ll take that off for you” would have been enough.

I had the most disgusting, humiliating, racist, and ableist experience at Hobby Lobby in Santa Maria. I was followed aisle to aisle, stared at, whispered about on walkie-talkies, and publicly accused of stealing when I hadn’t touched a thing. After parking in a handicapped spot ( I have plates I’m allowed to park there ) for my disabled mother and daughter, the MANAGER STILL made comments implying my mom was “slow” and used a slur people use to mock individuals with disabilities !!! all while loudly profiling me like I was a criminal in front of a full store. I was so humiliated I dumped out my entire purse in the middle of the store just to prove I hadn’t stolen anything, and the MANAGER STILL refused to apologize or give her name. I emailed corporate expecting help, they told me their employee “did nothing wrong” and completely dismissed everything I went through. So let me be clear: this store has a serious pattern of racial profiling, harassment, and mocking disabled people, and CLEAR RACISM AGAINST PEOPLE OF COLOR and corporate backs them up. If you are a person of color, disabled, have disabled family, or value basic human decency, do NOT shop at Hobby Lobby go next door to Michael’s. I left shaking, embarrassed, and furious, and now I’m telling everyone exactly how this company treats people, since corporate clearly doesn’t care until things go public. Yeah they sure preach their Christian values !!! LMFAO
