Crystal Cleaning Center was founded by Violet Janks in 1963. Violet emigrated from Johannesburg, South Africa, with her husband, Cyril, and four children. With extensive sewing experience and comprehensive knowledge about fabrics and garment construction, entering the dry cleaning business seemed like a good choice for starting her own business. Violet was a determined, tenacious woman who set out to establish a quality dry cleaning plant. Violet opened the doors of Crystal Cleaning Center on July 12, 1963. In December 1986, Lynnette Watterson, Violet’s youngest child, joined her at Crystal Cleaning Center. Lynnette now carries on Violet’s legacy of quality garment care from her San Mateo location.

I view clothes as “wearable art” and only take my finest clothes there with absolute confidence. The owner is polite, cheerful, professional at the highest level and truly has pride in the high quality of her team’s work.

- SBStephanie BarrettJul 10, 20191.0This place doesn't just take forever, but they over charge in a way that doesn't even remotely make sense. I had 3 items. 1 jumpsuit, 1 dress, 1 blazer. The total was $113.50 The jumpsuit was $57.50. I only paid $100 for it and wore it for less than 2 hours. It wasn't stained or terribly wrinkled. I just didn't feel like ironing it. It is machine washable. When I questioned them, the response was..."oh was this your first time here?" Because what, your cleaning chemicals are made from unicorn dust? This is the most ripped off I have ever been. Unbelievable.
