I was approached by an Aptive employee going door-to-door consultations with my neighborhood. This is the second time they have approached my household but this time around they offered a better deal of $99 for the initial treatment and inspection of the front yard, backyard, interior home, and garage. No additional fees unless I cancel the service before the end of the 24-month term, then they charge a $199 fee. Their treatment included a liquid spray around the perimeter of the exterior and the impacted areas of the garage and 2 glue traps at the entryway of the garage. Their initial person stated that 2 of my other neighbors on my street are using this service and I did see him inspect the perimeter of my neighbor’s home at some point during the day. He had pretty good customer service and highlighted all of my concerns. The only reason I gave a 4/5 instead of 5/5 rating was because he was not very clear about who would complete the treatment, what time the appointment would take place, and how I could contact him. He didn’t have a business card because he was a new employee (allegedly) and said he would send me a text but I never received a response. They’re supposed to return in 20-30 days for a follow-up inspection and treatment and said they can return sooner if we have any issues arise. Michael and Gabriel serviced my home and did a quick but decent job. I may update this review depending on the results. Update pending.

Most of the technicians that come out are very friendly. But the technician today (Reggie) seemed to be having a bad day. He didn't want to communicate at all. I usually walk them around and show them everything I want sprayed, but this tech just wanted to be left alone. It seems like he had a way that he liked to do things and that was different than the way I like to do things. All of the other techs have been very friendly and easy to work with. In the end, I have lots of DEAD bugs.

I have a service with APTIVE which I pay about $90 a month and they only show up every quarter for 10-15 minutes. This time, did not do any web cleaning but only sprayed. Was on her phone while spraying. Last time they were here in February, they took 6 mosquito repellent buckets of which 3 were mine (exactly the same ones) that they took away. They told me they have a newer and better mosquito repellent bucket and they will replace all of them. I had to remind them to bring these new ones this time but they only brought 3 total. Only 1 in the front yard and 2 in the back. I have a huge front and back yard. In addition, I’ve been telling them to schedule me in the morning. Even the supervisor annotated my account, to date, they still have yet to show up in the morning. Overpriced with bad service.

I had a really disappointing experience with Aptive. They missed scheduled appointments without any real communication or follow-up, which was frustrating and felt very unprofessional. When they did show up, the service felt rushed and far from personalized—it seemed like just another stop on their route rather than actually addressing my specific needs.
On top of that, their pricing is pretty high for what you get. After paying for several visits, I’m honestly not convinced the treatment even worked. I didn’t notice much of a difference, which makes it hard to justify the cost.
Overall, the lack of reliability, impersonal service, and questionable effectiveness make this a service I wouldn’t recommend.

Extremely illegal. For anyone who isn’t aware, pest control in California is a regulated service. Individuals who inspect properties, recommend treatments, or provide pricing are generally expected to be properly licensed or working under a licensed operator, and able to show identification when asked. That’s important because these services involve chemicals, safety standards, and consumer protections. Most of their college kids selling are unlicensed.
My understanding is that agreements made under unclear or non-compliant circumstances can sometimes be disputed and cancelled because the person that sold you was illegally inducting business.
I’ve submitted my experience to the Structural Pest Control Board so it can be reviewed. I would recommend that anyone considering this company independently verify licenses and if you have a bad experience email a lawyer or call and tell them to get a class action going.
