    I had a so-so experience here. I needed help in the Garden Department. I won't say it was poor service. The three young fellows I asked for help really wanted to help me. The problem was they just didn't have any knowledge of the garden centre. They told me there was no one around that was more knowledgeable. This was on a Tuesday evening around 6ish. I used AI on my phone to answer some questions. I had to spend a lot of time to find the specific type of plant I was shopping for. At that end of it all, I found everything I was looking for. Plus I took advantage of the 55+ seniors discount which is what drew me here in the first place. There is a competitor much more convenient for me but the extra discount was well worth the slight detour. My 2 cents worth is Rona needs to up their game with some staff members to have more product expertise, at least in the evening.

Worst service ever tells me I can’t take back moldy product or take an extra 4$ bag after spending thousand dollars past couple days here because it’s been opened and will “wreck there inventory” . shit service, take my business elsewhere. Need some better employees here going to ruin your buisness

    I ordered an Ego battery charger online through RONA, and customer service advised that the order was fulfilled by the Waterloo store. When the package arrived in Vancouver, the item inside the box was used and a cheaper model than the one I paid for. I understand that honest mistakes can happen, especially when staff are rushed while processing returns. A quick visual check can easily miss a swapped or older item, and without verifying model numbers or serial numbers, something like this can slip back onto the shelf. That’s exactly why careful inspection at both the return counter and the shipping stage is so important. Unfortunately, when customer service transferred my call to the Waterloo store, the experience was very difficult. I was told that everything shipped is checked and that the issue must have happened “in transit,” which is extremely unlikely. The implication was that I was being dishonest, which was disappointing and unfair. I was also told that I needed to ship the item back to Waterloo and resolve the issue long‑distance, even though RONA’s online policy states that returns can be made at any store. Had I been a local customer buying this in person, I could have had the same experience—opening a sealed box only to find the wrong product inside. I requested that a replacement be shipped to the Vancouver store so I could make an in‑person exchange and verify the replacement. This option was denied, and I was told it was against policy. I then went to my local Vancouver RONA, which initially directed me to deal with the Waterloo store. However, after reviewing the situation further, they recognized the problem, accepted the return, and ordered me a new charger. Their professionalism and respectful approach were a sharp contrast to the Waterloo location. I later noticed another customer review describing a similar experience at this same store, involving a damaged water heater and being treated as dishonest. I genuinely feel for staff who have to deal with return fraud, but integrity and customer service require acknowledging when a store‑level process failure is the more likely explanation. Given these issues, I strongly encourage customers purchasing from this store to carefully inspect products before leaving the premises, especially items that come in sealed boxes. For online orders fulfilled by this location, it may even be wise to record yourself opening the package to have clear documentation in case there are problems. This isn’t about mistrust, it’s simply a practical step to protect yourself, because rushed return processing or insufficient inspection can lead to honest mistakes that become very difficult for customers to resolve later. This review is not about RONA as a whole, but about the Waterloo store’s handling of an issue that could have been resolved quickly with a more customer‑focused approach and stronger return‑inspection practices.

    I just wanted to share how much I appreciated the help I received from Sam and Tate at Rona Waterloo West today. From the start, they made me feel genuinely taken care of, not just like another customer. Buying emerald cedars can be a bit overwhelming, especially in bulk, but they walked me through everything with patience, kindness, and real attention to detail. What stood out most was how they went out of their way to make sure everything was right for me. They answered all my questions without rushing, offered helpful suggestions, and made the whole process feel easy and even enjoyable. Tate was out in the cold with me for two and a half hours to ensure all emerald cedars selected were exactly what I hoped for and wanted. Throughout the process, he patiently offered suggestions and proactively coordinated with the Garden Center to move all selected cedars onto three skids for delivery, with smiles! Sam, who was incredibly helpful throughout, not only connected me with the right contacts at the very start, but staying behind to follow through the check out process to make sure no issues with the billing and the scheduled delivery. Thanks to Sam and Tate, what could have been a stressful experience turned into a really positive one. I’m truly grateful for their help and the effort they put in—it made a big difference!
