  If you’re looking for a locksmith who’s late, incompetent, overpriced, and vanishes like a thief in the night—congratulations, you’ve found your guy! Otherwise, avoid Key.Me and their shoddy subcontractors like a locked vault with no key. Ben, my so-called “locksmith,” showed up late, fumbled through my standard Kwikset lock like a toddler playing with a Rubik’s Cube, and had the audacity to watch a YouTube tutorial on the job. (Shoutout to DIY videos, I guess?) He refused to tell me the price until halfway through, at which point I insisted—either give me a quote or stop fumbling with my hardware like an amateur escape artist. When he finally named his absurd price, I nearly locked up in shock ($380 for three locks, one key… and a bonus round of buyer’s remorse). After I asked for time to consider my options, he plowed ahead anyway like a burglar in a hurry, finishing in minutes and then demanding payment like a mafia enforcer. Fine. Whatever. I caved. That’s on me. But upon closer inspection, I discovered he tightened a fiberglass door with a power tool (because who needs finesse when you can just brute-force everything, right?), causing the latch bolt to jam inside the lock body. Genius. Naturally, I called to have him fix his own shoddy work. Dispatch told me to call him directly—which I did, politely, despite my frustration. He immediately hung up on me. Classy move, Ben. Very professional. After I got dispatch involved again, I was told he’d be back in 30 minutes. 30 minutes later, that changed to “another hour”—or maybe “tomorrow.” Rather than waste any more time on these grifters, I did what I should’ve done in the first place: I went to the hardware store, bought my own tools, and fixed it myself. TL;DR: If you call these guys, expect locksmithing skills that rely on YouTube, pricing that’ll leave your wallet feeling burglarized, and customer service that vanishes faster than your patience. Zero stars. The only thing they unlocked was my rage.
