It’s something we do for fun, splitting into teams and hoping to maybe win a little extra so the kids can each pick out a special candy or item from the store. It’s always been a tradition we enjoy—until this visit. Unfortunately, the World Market in Chula Vista completely ruined the fun and surprise of the event. What appeared to be the manager blatantly cheated. The same man who stopped us to explain the rules openly guided another customer directly to where the last golden nutcracker was hidden. I then had to answer my child’s question: “Why did that worker tell that man where it was?” No parent should have to explain why an employee is helping someone cheat. It was incredibly upsetting for my kids and for us as a family. We participate for fun, not just the $20 or $50 reward, but watching someone be unfairly given an advantage—especially by the person in charge—completely ruins the experience. The kids were left confused and disappointed, and honestly, so were we. We’ve spent a decent amount of money at World Market over the years because we love the variety of items they offer. But after this experience, we won’t be returning for a while. It’s unacceptable to behave like that, especially right in front of children. Very disappointing and extremely unprofessional.
