- JGJoel GeckMar 23, 20261.0Extra Space storage is known for screwing over customers by offering a price that is slightly less than the competition in the area, only to double the rent after 4 months, hoping that you accept the increase rather than move out; THIS IS NO DIFFERENT IN CARP AND HAPPENS TO EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMER. Do yourself a huge financial favor and Google, “extra space storage rent increase after 4 months” and you will find thousands of examples of this same dubious tactic. Even more-so, they send all notifications via email, but only send the rent-increase notice in the postal mail, hoping that you won’t see it, as most of their customers are on auto pay. There is a reason why they have so many vacancies and why their turnover rate is comically high. Employees get a commission based on new units rented and couldn’t care less if you leave.
