This is a great full service shoe repair shop. I've been buying laces and having my wife's heels repaired here for quite a while. Pleasant to work with and punctual. 2281 Shattuck Ave Berkeley, CA 94704-1432 (510) 843-1570
I brought in my favorite pair of leather boots for resoling, and I couldn't be happier with the result. The work done here is truly exceptional. The quality of the resoling job was impeccable; my boots look like new! Not only that, but the turnaround time was incredibly fast, and the price was very reasonable. This shoe repair shop offers top-notch service, and the value you get for your money is outstanding. I won't hesitate to return for any future shoe repairs.

Where to begin? I bought a pair of wedge heels and the screws/nails came up from the heel, so I brought the shoes to Paul's for repair. They said it would be an easy repair, just a few screws into the wedge should fix it. They gave me a receipt/ticket and I asked them if they would call when the shoes were ready, and they said "Yeah, if you want us to". I did. I called two days later as I hadn't heard from them yet. He said they were ready for pick up. I asked what time they closed that day. He said 4. I headed down and got there at 3:30. The shop was closed. I waited a few days and went back, picked up the shoes and put them on. about 3 blocks down the street, they wedge came off the shoe. I looked at the work they'd done and they put some short screws through the insole (Didn't even lift the insole to hide the work) and down into the wedge, but 3 of the 4 screws didn't even hit the solid structure of the wedge; went straight into nothing. The inside of the wedge is like a waffle and they just did nothing, basically. They didn't use any glue, they didn't secure the shoe to the wedge at all. I brought the shoes back and showed the man what happened. I demonstrated (in front of another customer and my friend that I brought with me) how the screws didn't actually anchor into anything and he said, no, we did good repair work. The other customer looked over and said "He's not listening to you, is he?" I confirmed that and asked him if they were going to use larger screws this time and how long would it be? Suffice it to say, I asked him again to please call me when they are ready to pick up. He said he would. I waited about 10 days and just went in since I was in the area. They couldn't find my shoes and when they brought them over, I took the shoe and pulled at the wedge. It was coming up already. I asked him if they put larger screws in this time or not? He said he didn't know. I asked him what should I do if they fall apart again? He said sometimes shoes "like that" aren't meant to last. I pointed out that they didn't even use glue or anything and he said it wouldn't have made a difference. Call me crazy, but $25 for three tiny screws- barely an inch long, just hammered into the sole of a shoe is crazy. I feel totally scammed and angry that I had to keep coming back- they seemed lost and confused any time I asked a question. I do not suggest doing business with this shop. Sorry.
