  Very disappointed with the customer service at this RONA location. I recently started a small project in my garden. Since it was my first time doing something like this, I wasn’t able to measure everything perfectly from the beginning. On August 14, I purchased some pressure treated lumber from RONA. The staff that day were helpful and kindly cut the pieces I needed at no charge, which I really appreciated. Once we started the project, we realized that two 2x6x8 pieces needed an additional 20-inch cut. On August 15, we went back around 7:20 PM, while RONA’s website showed the store was open until 8:00 PM. However, when we arrived, the back gate was already completely closed, so we weren’t able to get the cuts done. We returned the next morning and politely asked if they could help us with the two cuts. The staff member seemed annoyed by our request and told us there would be a charge for each cut. We then asked to speak with a manager to explain the situation directly. Unfortunately, the manager, Majet, was even more disappointing. After I said I would write a Google review about this situation, the manager told his staff to just cut it for me because “$2 IS A LOT!” To be clear, the $2 is not the issue. We were very disappointed by the manager’s attitude and what we felt was an unnecessarily dismissive and inappropriate choice of words. At that point, we did not accept his offer to provide the cuts for free, because the issue was never about getting a free service. It was about being treated respectfully and receiving clear and consistent information about the store’s service policy. I understand that stores have policies and that there may be a fee for cutting services. I have no problem paying a reasonable fee when that policy is clearly communicated. What I do have a problem with is the attitude and the way this situation was handled. I have always chosen RONA because I believed in supporting a Canadian company and local businesses. Unfortunately, this experience was disappointing. I have also had positive experiences with Home Depot, where cuts have been provided free of charge, so I was particularly surprised when the manager stated that “nowhere else” offers free cuts. I hope RONA takes this feedback seriously and provides better customer service training so customers can receive consistent, professional, and respectful treatment.

  I like the layout of this store as well as the fact that the floor wasn't just concrete. I was surprised that a couple of items I picked up here were cheaper than two of their major competitors. It was also nice to receive a greeting with a smile at the door!

  I’m thankful for the South Surrey Rona store where I frequently shop. Every time I go to the store I go to Sue in paint as she knows the store so well. I always value her opinion & advice. She has always helped me & is so pleasant to deal with. She is the reason I keep going back to this store.
