Drove over from West Kelowna today to pick up some chainlink slats for privacy fencing checked online before I went over stating there was 23 bags of the slats in store. Went in and spoke to one of the guys on the floor he scans the code and sees there’s 23 of them in stock then walks to the other guy working in the department and comes back stating “oh they’re not actually in store they’re on a truck somewhere” sounds like two lazy sales associates that don’t want to go get the stock out of the warehouse. Bad business

Pick any other store, the customer service here is absolutely terrible. Went in to buy a patio set, was told I should come back tomorrow as they are closing in 45 mins. Uhhhhh, what is the point of having business hours if no one feels like working for the last hour? After this we were treated so poorly and as if we were inconveniencing the staff by trying to make a large purchase from them. Got the patio set home and all the hardware and instructions were missing from the box. Trying to get that sorted out was even worse than our experience the day before. Treated like a burden by staff every step of the way. Literally choose any other hardware store to purchase from. No customer deserves the treatment we recieved.

Website said they had what i needed. No one knew where. Found something that might work. 2 sizes 3/4 in plastic bag or 1/2 in box of 60. Took the box over to see if they would hold 1/2 irrigation pipe. Employee stops to ask if i need help. Explain what i need, sorry i opened thus but it wont fit 1/2 pipe. He snorts, its not what thats for ( i know that). Walks off and snarles,' you shouldnt be opening boxes'. I said, 'sorry but i had to check before i get all the way home. Open it and find it doesnt work, and come back'. There were no demos for size on shelf and no small clear bags of that size. Shockingly RUDE treatment besides totally unhelpful! I went back for the 3/4. Go to checkout. Girl at desk tells me shes busy- use self check. Other guy at desk just stands there. I said, aww forget it. Its not even what i came for. Keep them. Guy says,' enjoy your day', in such a rude way. Unnecessary rudeness. I will not be shopping at Rona in Kelowna. This is not the first time with no help But- it was the last!

My Father bought a washer from this location and was told it would arrive May 2, with no communication from the store he went there and he was told its in one of the 9 trucks in the back. He's already waited over two weeks for it to arrive and now because he choose to save money on delivery he cant get it. If he paid the delivery it would have been delivered on time they say. One of the employees told him to go find a rock in the river and do laundry the old fashioned way. As his daughter I asked him why are you dealing with Rona? why didnt you shop around for a same day pick up? His response I want to support a Canadian company. Come on Rona! figure out your receiving situation, support the people who want to support you.

I want to share my experience with replacing my air conditioner because it might save someone else from going through the same frustration I did. A few years ago, I bought an Arctic Air unit from Rona. Before purchasing, I specifically asked the salesperson whether it could be installed in a condo wall sleeve, and I was told “yes.” That advice turned out to be completely wrong. The unit was designed for a house style window, not a condo wall opening. Because of that, it never fit properly, it couldn’t drain the way it was supposed to, and it ended up dripping water onto the neighbour’s AC below. I could barely use it, and it caused stress for years. Today I finally had professionals come in and install the correct type of AC — the kind actually meant for condo walls. The difference is huge. No leaking, no awkward fit, no worrying about damaging someone else’s unit. Just a proper installation done by people who know what they’re doing. This whole experience made one thing very clear: Rona and other big box stores need employees who actually understand what they’re selling. Not all AC units are interchangeable, and the difference between a window unit and a condo wall sleeve unit is significant. When staff give the wrong information, it isn’t a small mistake — it costs people money, time, and years of frustration. A simple, accurate explanation at the time of purchase would have prevented all of this. If you live in a condo, make sure you’re getting the right type of AC and have it installed by professionals. It makes all the difference.
