  I rented a storage unit at Sentinel Storage on Ricardo Road in Kamloops for several years. Unfortunately, my experience ended very badly. I asked for a refund, was told no, and my second email to the manager was ignored. During the 3 year rental, the unit had only been opened 2x. The second time it was opened was this spring and I reported to the manager that there were droppings inside what I had thought to be sealed suitcases and sealed totes. When I finally began emptying the unit July 30, 2026, I found mouse droppings inside as well as a thick layer of dust throughout the unit. I did not fully understand the extent of the problem until I had moved everything to my new home and began unpacking and taking things apart. I ultimately had to throw away a substantial amount of my belongings because the items were chewed up. I also noticed that the majority of the other storage units had a trim to seal along the bottom, while my unit did not. I felt then that the amount of dust and evidence of mice that I discovered in my unit was preventable. I contacted Sentinel about the situation and arranged to meet them there at a specific time when I was moving out. I also called beforehand and was told someone would be there. However, when I arrived, I did not see anyone, so I packed into the UHaul and left. There were a lot of mouse droppings left behind in the empty unit. When I complained, I received an email from Sentinel stating that there was no refund because they needed to inspect and verify the condition while I was there. My concern is that I was not told in advance that a visual inspection was required, despite having already communicated prior to moving out that there were mouse droppings on the inside of my belongings and requesting that someone meet me. After paying for storage for years, it was extremely upsetting to discover how much of my property had been affected and how much I ultimately had to discard. I understand that storage facilities cannot guarantee that every item will remain perfect, but I expected a much better outcome after I paid well over $200 per month for 3 years for a lot of stuff which I then had to throw out. I am sharing my experience so that potential customers can make an informed decision about storing their belongings here.

  After paying nearly 300$ a month for a year to store my belongings after a move. I've begun moving things out and discovered mice have ruined 60% of my items or more (I haven't gotten to the back yet) they chewed thru totes, boxes, bags, everything. Feces everywhere and many many items fully destroyed. Staff were nice during set up for sure, but no one warned me of the mouse problem. Very disappointed in the facility. Update - Facility has contacted me due to my review and informed me that my 4 cleaning products in the 10*12 attracted the mice. A quick Google search will promptly tell you the exact opposite. I do not use eco friendly products, I use harsh chemicals stored in large plastic gallon containers.They have also said they want to inspect mine and my neighbors units to see what is attracting the rodents. They have taken no responsibility and seem to want to lay blame everywhere but themselves.
