  I was surprised by the number of folks siting on both the outdoor sets and the indoor chairs and couches in Duncan, BC. Surprisingly a man pulled out his back pipe and set it on his lap under his denim cowboy hat. He was in a hanging egg chair. His friend was seated beside him and our cashier Caitlin spoke to him about McDonald’s in a joking way. I was disturbed because I figured the next move was to light up but there was a 10 year old blond female watching them. I didn’t know what to do. The cashier was friendly with them and shortly the mother called the daughter away. Perhaps I thought someone outside this location should know that using a crack pipe inside a store is not okay. There is a lot of public drug use in this area but this beats all I have witnessed.

  I was searching for specific chairs and Duncan only had 1. Jackie was able to locate one for me at another store and I was able to pay for it and have my dad pick it up for me. Her effort was greatly appreciated!!!

  I came to the Duncan Jysk store for a few things. Jackie helped me organize the purchase of a table and four chairs. She also helped me in the bedding department, as I was looking to buy a duvet and a duvet cover. She recommended the 100% cotton duvet, which is really more like a quilt, since you can use it on either side without need for a duvet cover. I am glad she steered me toward the all cotton duvet. The fellow who loaded my furniture purchases into my car was fast, efficient, and friendly. I am really happy with the service I received.

  Extremely disappointed with our experience at the Duncan Jysk location. After a frustrating refund process, we called ahead and received approval from a manager to bring back our couch before the store’s 7:00 PM closing time. We had our receipt and followed the instructions we were given. We drove down!island, all the way from parksville specifically to complete the return as Duncan was the location we purchased from originally. We were met with an incredibly rude and aggressive attitude from sales associate Jackie. From the moment we arrived, it was clear she was upset about having to assist us near closing time. Her tone and behavior were unprofessional, uncomfortable, and completely inappropriate for someone working in customer service. It became so unpleasant that I eventually had to ask her why she seemed so angry, which she brushed off with another rude remark and continued speaking to us with a horrible attitude. As someone who worked in retail for many years, I understand that closing-time requests can be inconvenient, but customers should never be made to feel like a burden for following instructions given by management. There is no excuse for treating customers with hostility. I do want to acknowledge that Manager Dave was respectful, informative, and helpful throughout the process, unfortunately he had left the store before we arrived. The other sales associate on duty was also willing to stay late and assist without issue. Unfortunately, Jackie’s attitude overshadowed the entire experience. If someone dislikes dealing with customers to this extent, customer service may not be the right fit for them. Because of this experience, I will not be purchasing from this location again.
