- STStephen TakashimaOct 31, 20251.0Genuine scammers; beware for locksmith needs. For whatever reason, they sent someone who didn’t even know how to pick locks. Got locked out of our apartment and the property manager called these guys because they are the closest. The guy looks at the lock for two seconds, says, “oh, see, this is a very complicated 6 pin lock. If I’m able to pick it without damaging it, it’s going to be $225. If it can’t be picked, I can drill it for $185.” Except it wasn’t. It was a standard 5-pin residential lock. I told the property manager this was a scam, but she didn’t want to send him away since he’d already driven over. He then pulls out a lock pick set and looks at them like he’s never seen a set before, and within a few seconds I could tell he had no idea what he was doing. I left for a short walk and when I came back he had drilled it. After he left, I went inside and got my lock pick set (which I now know to keep in my car instead) and picked the deadbolt, which took the same key but hadn’t been drilled, and picked it in less than 5 minutes.
