The quality of the lumber there is SHIT yes. It's like almost comical to the point we only go there if we need a few pieces of wood and go on a search for the straightest one which will always end up being bowed... haha
On the other hand, every employee there is really nice compared to Home Hardware down the road where some of them make you feel like crap for asking them to do their job or just greeting them even lol... So we go to Rona.
Also... prices for hardware is ridiculously high. Boxes of nails and screws should not be 60 to 80 dollars in my opinion. Same box at Home Depot (which I should remind you... Rona is equally american as Home Depot- for these elbows up people who think ROna is still Canadian....) will be 25 dollars, at Rona it will be sometimes 80. Don't understand these prices for a big box store. But other than that, never disappointed. Lots of deals on paint and caulk. Really can't complain, except the aforementioned points.

Everyone at Rona Penticton was so friendly and helpful, EXCEPT CODY AT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE DESK. Twice over the course of 3 days we went in and both times Cody was overly rude and dismissive of us. The first time we stopped at the customer services desk to return an item and Cody was there on his computer completely ignoring us for a few minutes. Even though we were standing right in front of his field of view. After a minute I asked “am I in the right place?” He said “for what” (with a snarky rude tone). I said “for customer service”. He said “what do you want” (again with a rude tone). We asked if we could return a shower head and he said those are not returnable. We told him that Les and Don told us they were returnable even if they were used but he said “no they wouldn’t have said that”. So we went to the desk at the back and were served by a very nice lady and returned the shower head no problem. She was confused about what Cody said, and his behaviour. The second time was a day or two later, and we again approached Cody at the customer service desk about questions we had on an item, and again he was very rude and dismissive saying “I don’t know” and then walking away from us. We are very polite people and were shocked at his level of non-customer service skills. Everyone else at Rona was very helpful and friendly, but Cody ruined the experience. We just bought our first house and wanted Rona to be our store for repairs, etc. but we will not be dealing with Cody anymore. He should not be in a customer service position.

Terrible experience, a man named Greg Wurz helped me out and was it was awful. I left in tears and did not get the help I was looking for. He does not treat Rona customers well and the experience made me not want to come back.

Very friendly helpful staff. They went the extra mile for me when I went to pick up osb 4x8 boards on my own (5'3" small female). They made it comfortable and easy for me to accomplish this task. Will shop there again for sure.
