I’m very disappointed with my recent experience on February 5, 2026 at 750pm at the RONA location on Edmonds street in Burnaby.
I attempted to return a RONA item/product (door knob lock) that I had purchased just a few days earlier from the Surrey location. I came to the Burnaby store to return it (unopened , brand new).
The customer service representative told me they could not process the return because their RONA store does not carry that specific product. I then asked to speak with a manager, who unfortunately gave me the same response — that I would need to drive back to Surrey to return it, simply because this location does not stock that item. I told them I live in Burnaby.
This policy makes very little sense to me. It is a RONA product, purchased at a RONA store, with a receipt. Whether a specific location carries the item, is out of stock or not should not matter — many other large retailers (Walmart, Canadian Tire, Home Depot, London Drugs, to name a few, etc.) allow returns across locations without issue.
I have been a loyal customer at this Burnaby Edmonds street RONA for many years and have spent thousands of dollars here. Probably well over $30k for various home projects. And YES i mentioned that Ive been coming here for years and never had an issue like this. It’s frustrating that none of that seemed to matter over a door knob lock worth $40 CAD. I left feeling dismissed and shut down, rather than helped.
Unfortunately, this experience has left a very negative impression, and I expected much better customer service from the staff and "manager" at this time. I’ve supported and spent my money here. I do not recommend this Rona store. Even my contacts I will be informing them to go to Home Depot and Canadian Tire.

I liked walking around and seeing all the different items they had, from big tools to little parts you might forget you need. They explained what was good for my project so I did not feel lost. After I left, I felt ready to start building and fixing things with confidence. I would go back again and tell my friends and family to visit RONA too.

Staff are helpful when you can find them, especially in departments like paint and building materials, though during busy hours it can take a bit of time to get assistance. Parking is easy, which is a big plus, and checkout is usually smooth. Overall, it’s a dependable store that does most things well.
