This rating is leaning positive only because of the employees who stepped in to help. Unfortunately, my repeated experiences with one employee at the Happy Valley location—Brenda at the returns counter—have been consistently negative.
I’m a very loyal Lowe’s customer and spend a lot of time and money here. I understand store policies, but every interaction with Brenda has been unnecessarily difficult. She is consistently dry, dismissive, and unwilling to help. Rather than assisting or troubleshooting, she tends to make returns feel like the customer’s problem.
A few months ago, I attempted to return caster wheels using my digital receipt and loyalty account. Instead of checking my purchase history, I was sent back to the aisle to find the item myself, only to be told the system couldn’t find it. I ultimately had to identify the issue on my own before the return was processed.
Most recently, I tried to return storage totes purchased the day before that turned out to be too small. I was met with the same lack of empathy and simply pointed to the policy sign with “I can’t help you.” Thankfully, a supervisor stepped in, made an exception, and I ended up spending significantly more on replacement items.
Lowe’s has many fantastic employees, which makes this contrast especially noticeable. I hope management addresses how the returns desk is handled, as one consistently negative interaction can overshadow an otherwise great store.

I want to like this Lowe’s because it’s close and usually has what I need, but after several visits it’s just not a great experience. The biggest problem is customer service. It can be hard to find anyone to help, and when you do, it often feels like you’re bothering them rather than getting real assistance.
Online pickup has been another pain point. For something that’s supposed to be quick and convenient, the wait times are way too long, with very little communication about what’s going on. The return policy also feels overly strict and unfriendly compared to other stores, which makes simple returns more frustrating than they should be.
The store layout doesn’t help either. It feels awkward and clunky, and I often end up walking all over the place trying to find basic items.
Because of all this, I usually drive an extra 10 minutes to the Home Depot instead—it’s just a better experience overall with faster pickups, easier returns, and more helpful staff. I’d love for this Lowe’s to improve, but for now it’s a solid 2-star experience.

These charges are likely authorization holds that are placed throughout the life cycle of your order to ensure the funds are reserved for your purchase. When you place an order, your payment method is authorized for the full amount of the purchase. As items from your order ship, your payment is charged and the authorization is no longer held by Lowe’s. Orders shipped in multiple shipments will be charged separately at time of shipment; therefore, you may see multiple charges, but they'll never exceed the full amount of your order. For orders with longer lead times, your method of payment will be reauthorized to ensure funds remain available until your item is shipped.
