A few weeks ago, during one of our trips we purchased some battery powered Christmas lights. We ended up not needing them. We tried to return them today only to be told we would receive 50% of the original price. Um… huh? Turns out, Christmas decor returned after Christmas is only worth 50 cents on the dollar because some people buy items, use them, then return them. This item was still in the original package, obviously unused and we had the original receipt. The lesson here is that the corporation would rather treat all their customers as people who use items then return them after the fact than reject those returns. They have effectively removed someone’s ability to buy Christmas gifts there because they won’t get the full value if returned. We’ll take our business elsewhere. EDIT: The response is the store policy that’s only indicated on the receipt that’s crammed in the bottom of the bag. It’s not on any signs in the store BEFORE the purchase. Every other store accepts returns based on their own criteria at full price. I won’t be reaching out to your customer care. It’s $4.00. I won’t spend any more of my time on it other than to let folks know. You might consider what that $4.00 is going to cost you in the lost sales when we don’t return and what it might cost you when others read this review. It’s certainly not about the money. It’s the principle and short-sighted corporate policies.

You will probably buy something just because it was unique and it will add something to your house design. We purchased 4 decorator for our three bathrooms and loved how they "made" the room look. Unfortunately one mirror fell in the middle of the night, 6 months after being installed and shattered on the floor. By chance I went back to the same At Home store in Peoria and they had two in stock. Bought it and hung it up and it worked out better then having the glass replaced.
