If you shop carefully they often have very good prices. Delivery costs are also very reasonable. I doubt the quality of Lowe's management. The people are friendly and want to help but they often are uninformed or even prevented by policy and ineffective technology from answering basic questions about their products. They try at every turn to drive you toward self service by using their technology, which would be fine with me except their technology is surprisingly just terrible. It is both poorly designed AND buggy – so that ordering online or even calling them to ask a simple question can be a frustrating and difficult experience. I have less experience with Home Depot but I have started usually driving three times as far to use Home Depot instead – so far would rate them a 4+ by comparison.

No employee is available to help. You have to search someone down and have the dept employee paged and they might show up. Items are scattered and not organized. One employee last night was on his personal cell phone saying he was hiding do awhile when I walked up on him. I had a question and he acted like it was killing him to help me. This guntersville store needs more employees and ones that want to work and will work and fire some of these sorry ones.
UPDATE
Went into the store again to find spring hinge set for screen doors. One young guy said if it’s not on the shelf on isle 17 we don’t have it. I told him it says 5 in stock but none are on the shelf to be found and he said computer is probably wrong. I went and looked at the top racks full of boxes of stock and sure enough I found the sku number I needed and it was wrote on the outside of box. I had to get an older guy to use the ladder and get the box down and sure enough there was 5 in the box and I bought 1 of them. I went back the next day to buy 2 more and the box was put back on the top rack instead of putting the part on the shelf so I had to get another person to get the box down again and give me 2 of them. They told me they don’t have any and it’s online only until I told them I just bought 1 out of 5 a day ago and pointed to the box where they were at. This store has some serious employee and management problems and it seems no one wants to put stock on the shelves.
Pipe fittings are a complete mess and mixed in with other sizes and pipe types. I had to look at every fitting to make sure it was the right size and most importantly make sure it was fit sch 40 pipe and not the cheap thin crap.
