I came to the paint department looking for help choosing paint, not to interrupt a social hour. I asked an employee named Grady for assistance, and he flat-out told me he was “too busy” while literally standing there laughing and chatting with someone else. No customers being helped. No urgency. Just vibes. If the paint department is understaffed, that’s on management. But if employees are too busy joking around to help paying customers, that’s a culture problem. I walked in ready to spend money and walked out feeling like I’d bothered someone by asking them to do their job. Plenty of places sell paint. Fewer manage to make customers feel this unwelcome doing it.

You know, it's pretty bad when the store can't keep anyone in the busy isles, like plumbing and electrical, but when a nice lady pages the plumbing guy to help me, but within view, he's gotta stop and help 4 other people, it's a staffing problem. After he helps the last one, he just walks back the way he came. Come off some of your budget and hire more staff.

My husband and I have been blessed with the task of building a deck for our dear friend and veteran who has recently been placed on hospice after a courageous battle with cancer. We spent an hour loading boards and pushing lumber carts. As we struggled to push the carts to the register from the lumber yard, not only did they block off the aisle for a fork lift in our path, we were only asked if we needed help 5 yards from the register. I assured the associate that he was late for that as he walked past us several times without a word. As we were loading our $1000 lumber purchase, we had 7 boards left and the same guy asked if we needed help. We have 2 more of these loads that will be purchased and I guarantee they will NOT come from Lowe’s.

If you don’t mind checking yourself out, while employee’s stand around doing nothing this is your store. I myself will try to never step foot in a Lowe’s again
