We have been working with NSM for decades for strollers for my special needs daughter of a rare chromosome deletion disorder throughout her life. We’ve always had to go through Rose. She was the only one that could do the whole “ stroller” thing. She has never been personable , empathetic, understanding and didn’t really like to explain too much and was always extremely difficult to get ahold of and when I did get ahold of her , it was like she always had something better to do. Maybe it was just me, but I felt very.. secluded or judged and always felt like a nuisance. This time around, I just couldn’t tolerate it anymore. I started looking at other companies for a stroller for my daughter. Then I gave it one more shot and requested someone else and they finally gave me Joe! HE IS A TRUE Godsend!!!! 💚 The good man above knew when I had enough to deal with already and helped me get Joe. He is sooo empathetic, patient, understanding, knowledgeable and explains everything in detail without any kind of attitude but with tender compassion. He keeps me informed throughout the whole process , emails me updates as soon as he gets the chance and actually returns my emails and phone calls …And in a very polite and kind manner too, I might add. He aims to be a part of the team advocating with me for my daughter and the accessories she needs. Joe YOU ARE A ROCKSTAR! We thank YOU from the bottom of our 💚!! I HIGHLY recommend Joe!! He will take amazingly and perfect care of you!

Because we work in a partnership with your health care team, we require a referral from them in order to be your mobility provider. To help ensure your choice of NSM, you should request that your physician and/or therapist select us as your provider of choice.
How long does it take to get a new power wheelchair from NSM?
NSM strives to complete each timeline phase as quickly as possible without compromising any step in the process. Please refer to this page for the full timeline. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Why must I see a doctor to get a wheelchair from NSM?
Our clients have mobility challenges and are referred to us by therapists and physicians to receive mobility solutions that meets all their unique needs. If you need a wheelchair, your best plan is to talk with your physician or therapist and get a thorough evaluation from a qualified Rehab Technology Supplier (RTS).
What if my medical condition changes?
Contact your local NSM branch and notify us of any changes that may affect the proper fit and function of your chair.
Are there any dangers in using an off-the-shelf wheelchair?
Definitely. A standard or not customized chair can cause more harm than good. People come in all shapes and sizes; their chairs must be designed to fit them. In severe situations, a standard or not customized chair may:
- Cause significant physiological and psychological problems
- Lead to an increase in dependence because it’s not used due to lack of comfort
- Cause pressure sores, or decubitus, due to improper cushioning
- Become obsolete quickly if not configured to “grow with the child”
- Become a major expense to replace or reconfigure, because most funding sources will only reimburse for a new chair every five years.
