I just had to take a moment to shout out two incredible people at the Vancouver, WA branch — Hayle and Brent — because they went so far above and beyond that I had to write this review.
I have owned my Quantum Edge 3 for over five years. As with any equipment of that age, I recently began experiencing a series of significant mechanical failures — all occurring within the span of just three weeks. These included failing lighting modules, a deteriorating seating module, and most alarmingly, a joystick that caught fire. As a wheelchair user, these were not minor inconveniences; they were urgent situations that directly impacted my mobility and safety. It was a stressful, overwhelming stretch, and I was completely dependent on getting my chair back up and running.
Enter Hayle. Every single time I called, she answered with warmth and professionalism. She worked her magic behind the scenes to get a technician out to me as quickly as possible — no runaround, no being put on hold indefinitely, just calm, competent, pleasant customer service when I needed it most. She is an absolute gem and the kind of person who makes you feel like you're in good hands the moment she picks up the phone.
And then there's Brent — hands down one of the best wheelchair technicians I've ever worked with. While troubleshooting my chair, he didn't just follow the obvious path. He listened. He caught a subtle clicking sound that most techs would have missed entirely, correctly identifying it as a seating module issue rather than the joystick problem we assumed it was. He then bypassed the faulty module on the spot to restore power to my chair and get me mobile again.
Brent didn't just fix my chair — he gave me my independence back.
If you're a wheelchair user and you want a team that actually cares, that listens, that problem-solves creatively, and that treats you with dignity and urgency — ask for Hayle and Brent at the Vancouver, WA branch. They are the gold standard.

Today my sales rep and technician came to make adjustments on my new chair. This sales rep is different than the one who helped me with my last wheelchair, only because they needed more help in the territory I live in. All of the employees I've dealt with are 5 star people. They are top notch people who do their best to help their customers. I highly recommend this company for wheelchair needs.

Frequently Asked Questions About National Seating & Mobility
What makes NSM the preferred choice for obtaining mobility solutions?
At NSM, we are uniquely positioned to search hundreds of sources for the precise components needed to create a chair that is made specifically to meet the needs of each client. Each chair can be designed for maximum comfort and ease and will provide the specific therapeutic benefits prescribed for you by the health care team. But what really sets NSM apart is our approach. We work from the heart, honoring your journey of independence with efficient, friendly attention that puts your interests first. This is our life’s work—to help others move through life—and we take it very seriously.
How can I work with NSM for my mobility needs?
National Seating & Mobility is a member of your rehabilitation health care team. We work with your physician, nurses and therapists to provide a one-of-a-kind mobility solution customized to your needs and preferences. Because we work in a partnership with your health care team, we require a referral from them in order to be your mobility provider. To help ensure your choice of NSM, you should request that your physician and/or therapist select us as your provider of choice.
How long does it take to get a new power wheelchair from NSM?
NSM strives to complete each timeline phase as quickly as possible without compromising any step in the process. Please refer to this page for the full timeline. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Why must I see a doctor to get a wheelchair from NSM?
Our clients have mobility challenges and are referred to us by therapists and physicians to receive mobility solutions that meets all their unique needs. If you need a wheelchair, your best plan is to talk with your physician or therapist and get a thorough evaluation from a qualified Rehab Technology Supplier (RTS).
What if my medical condition changes?
Contact your local NSM branch and notify us of any changes that may affect the proper fit and function of your chair.
Are there any dangers in using an off-the-shelf wheelchair?
Definitely. A standard or not customized chair can cause more harm than good. People come in all shapes and sizes; their chairs must be designed to fit them. In severe situations, a standard or not customized chair may:
- Cause significant physiological and psychological problems
- Lead to an increase in dependence because it’s not used due to lack of comfort
- Cause pressure sores, or decubitus, due to improper cushioning
- Become obsolete quickly if not configured to “grow with the child”
- Become a major expense to replace or reconfigure, because most funding sources will only reimburse for a new chair every five years.
Do I have a choice of which mobility solutions company to use?
The choice of a wheeled mobility supplier is yours. Discuss your decision with your physician and therapist.
