(it's not simply "what a caregiver will do" as regards tasks---but also and perhaps more importantly WHO they are and how a caregiver's personality dovetails with a parent's). Amy at Home Instead LISTENED to what we asked and she drew from her pool of caregivers and came up with the most perfect of caregivers---named Jeannie---who is both a hard worker who sees what needs to be done and DOES IT and someone who entirely brightens my mom's day from the moment she walks in the door with her genuinely warm countenance. My mom looks forward to Jeannie's arrival as anyone would look forward to the arrival of a friend for a visit. This is no small thing... This has been a game-changer and the entire staff at Home Instead Vancouver whom I have dealt with--from caregiver Jeannie who is doing angel's work--to schedulers Amy and Sue and Mgr. Julie---has been exceptionally kind, exceptionally professional and have made a positive difference not just for my mom who is their client---but for me---an adult son handling other aspects of parental care.
