I wanted to share some candid feedback about my experience at Club Pilates Hazel Dell. This studio is positioned as a premium offering, but the overall experience doesn’t consistently matched that expectation. The studio often feels uncomfortably hot for a fitness studio. Cleanliness and maintenance have been ongoing concerns. Equipment cleanliness is inconsistent, several lightbulbs were burned out for over six months, and the restrooms are in need of a thorough deep clean. For a studio that markets itself as premium, these basic upkeep issues noticeably affect the experience. From a programming standpoint, classes are very formulaic. Despite the thousands of possible Pilates exercises, most classes follow the same structure: roughly a 10-minute warm-up, a 10-minute cool-down, and limited variation in between. Over time, this becomes repetitive, especially for members looking to progress their practice. For more advanced students, there are very few truly advanced classes offered, and limited instruction on advanced modifications within regular classes. Pilates is designed to be adaptable, but layered progressions are rarely demonstrated, making it difficult for experienced students to meaningfully challenge or advance their practice. Class times are limited, particularly for people who work, and the studio was not open on New Year’s Day, unlike many other fitness studios. Class times are geared toward what appear to be retired people or stay at home moms. You won’t find a class before 9:00 AM. Instructor engagement varies, but overall there has been minimal hands-on form correction or individualized adjustments, which many students expect in Pilates for both safety and effectiveness. There are also not enough instructors so you may have the same instructor for 5 classes in a row, also contributing to the monotony. Instructors often encourage members to provide feedback on class structure and scheduling, but there isn’t a clear or accessible way to do that, hence sharing feedback here, in hopes it will be read. There is real potential here. With improved cleanliness standards, more variety and progression within classes, better support for advanced students, and more class time offerings, this studio could better align with the premium experience it promotes.

I would never leave a bad review unless I felt it completely necessary but I had the worst experience at this club Pilates with Amy as the instructor. She felt completely disengaged and when giving critiques she seemed almost rude and condescending. The room was so dark I could barely tell what we were doing and her instructions were unclear. Again, I would never leave a bad review but this was just terrible and I’ll never take her class again or at this location.

After MANY years of searching for the kind of exercise I want to keep coming back to, I found Club Pilates. The atmosphere is friendly and is very much "Come as you are." Erika, Julie, and Lori are my favorite instructors. I highly recommend!

Since I started with club pilates my core strength and posture have improved. I have less pain associated with scoliosis. I take classes and private sessions. This past year I have taken private sessions with Martt to focus on scoliosis. The private sessions focus on stretching out the tight side and strengthening the weak side. I have learned to recruit the correct muscle groups when doing an exercise examples: teaser I used to recruit my quads instead of engaging stomach and glutes. I tend to lock out my knees and elbows. I discovered when knees are locked glutes are not engaged and locking out elbows does not engage lats. I highly recommend taking private sessions to learn how to do the move correctly. Knowing how to do the moves correctly increased my core strength and posture .
