So I went to see Dr Brooksby after writing a letter in an email and he was the first dentist I reached out to to send the email to. Simply put,,, it was a plea to find a dentist, or really a periodontist who would take me seriously and help me.
In the email I outlined how I'd had really bad luck with dentists. That I had pyorrhea which is a bone and gum disease. There is no cure for it and I've struggled with it all my life. Because of the chronic nature of it, most dentists think that I am not taking care of my teeth which is simply not true. I take reasonable care, I brush two times a day and I floss incessantly.
All of this I laid out in an email to him and how I reached out to steim family dentistry more than a year ago, I googled periodontists and their office came up. I talked Kathy who's the ringleader and told her in no uncertain terms that I needed a periodontist to which she said "no problem come on in we'll get you fixed right up".
Well it turns out that isn't true, they do basic dentistry, cleaning, fillings etc...
To my amazement Dr Brooksby after receiving this email called me, and left a message, I was stunned and hopeful. I called him back, we talked briefly and I made an appointment. To say that I was excited and hopeful would be a massive understatement.
Well that's where it ends, his office is in this cheesy little what used to be a fast food greasy spoon restaurant type of thing, it's an office front in a strip mall in sequim, I mean literally you can still smell the grease from the fries and whatever else they cooked in there.
And then he has damn menu similar to a nail salon or a burger joint, there's a menu on plain white paper with bold black font literally, taped to the counter with the prices for the various procedures on it!? And then the lady tells me that they collect payment at the time of services and they send some sort of an invoice to the insurance company to have them send me a check directly?!
I've never heard of that, I doubt my insurance company would do that and I wouldn't blame them. What is the point of having insurance if you can't use it?! I have Delta Dental, it's an excellent plan! So there's no reason for that.
On my way out the door leaving for my appointment with Dr. Brooksby I commented to my employer how dentists are a lot like lawyers. Dr Brooksby is no exception to that rule and in fact in my opinion he fits the mold perfectly.
So if someone were to ask my opinion, I would simply tell them in the whole 2 minutes if that, that I was in his office I came to the conclusion that I would never recommend that someone let him put his hands in their mouth, of course I'm just one person but that's my opinion for what it's worth.
