The doctor asked, “Where are you from?”—a question entirely irrelevant to my medical care—and later dismissed my medical history by stating, “In the US we don’t take that long to recover.” This remark improperly linked my physical recovery to national origin, was medically unfounded, and reflected clear xenophobic bias and a lack of cultural competence. Rather than feeling supported and evaluated based on medical facts, I felt judged and marginalized. This interaction raises serious concerns about Dr. Dr. Galia Leonard’s professionalism and ability to provide equitable patient care.
