Sincere Letter to Safeway Corporate To: Safeway Corporate Customer Relations Team Subject: Sincere Complaint Regarding Safeway Pharmacy in Kent, WA – September 8, 2025 Dear Safeway Corporate Customer Relations Team, I am writing with a heavy heart to share a painful experience I had with Safeway Pharmacy at 210 Washington Ave S, Kent, WA 98032, on September 8, 2025. My intention is not to condemn, but to seek accountability, compassion, and meaningful changes that will protect patients who are already vulnerable and may feel overwhelmed when they seek help. What happened I called the Safeway Pharmacy to verify a prescription while I was in the presence of my medical provider. A pharmacy technician spoke to me in a manner I perceived as disrespectful. When I asked for courtesy and professionalism, the technician slammed the phone. During the call, she was on loudspeaker with my medical provider, which made me feel humiliated and anxious in a moment when I needed support and clarity. My provider attempted to address the situation with the pharmacist on duty, but the issue was not resolved, and I left the encounter feeling distrusted and distressed. Why this matters Many patients relying on Safeway Pharmacy are dealing with illness, stress, and time-sensitive needs. Being spoken to disrespectfully or being publicly exposed to a clinician’s presence without privacy compounds fear and frustration and can negatively impact health outcomes. Respectful, compassionate, and professional communication is essential to patient care. Expressions of empathy and helpfulness can make a difficult moment much more manageable. What I hope Safeway will do Affirm a culture of respect and patient-centered service across all Safeway pharmacies, including training that emphasizes courtesy, active listening, and privacy. Ensure accountability by identifying staff involved in the incident and providing appropriate guidance or remediation as needed, while maintaining patient privacy. Review and enhance privacy practices for phone interactions to protect PHI and patient dignity, especially when conversations occur in the presence of others. Communicate clearly with patients about steps taken to prevent recurrence and the timeline for improvements. Offer support or accommodations to patients who experience distress as a result of poor service, such as expedited assistance with prescriptions or a direct line to a supervisor for follow-up. What I ask from Safeway A compassionate acknowledgment of this letter and a sincere apology for the distress caused. A transparent description of any actions taken to address the incident and to prevent recurrence, including staff training and privacy safeguards. An estimated timeline for when I can expect feedback or a formal response. A point of contact (supervisor or patient advocate/privacy officer) who can provide updates and assistance as needed. Closing I value Safeway’s commitment to patient care and privacy, and I believe that with thoughtful reflection and concrete action, Safeway can strengthen trust with patients who rely on your pharmacies every day. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and for your attention to ensuring a respectful, supportive experience for all patients. Sincerely, Washington Patient Rights Advocate

I was in line for Starbucks and there was only 1 person in front of me. I guess the waitress (not gonna call her a barista) thought I had all day and proceeded to have a conversation with the girl in front of me. She only took her order and continued to have a conversation as if no one else was there waiting. Not cool. Not efficient. Not a good work ethic for starbucks or safeway.

Friendly staff, but sometimes the line moves extremely slowly.
