We drove 2 hrs to find out they charge an additional medical fee of $50 on top of our insurance. We have never had to pay that fee anywhere else. I assume when I look up who is in network that the vision exam will be covered in its entirety. There was no mention of this additional fee when scheduling. I would have never chose to pay for something that is fully covered elsewhere by our insurance. That's why we pay so much for our insurance. $50 is almost the cash price of an eye exam anywhere else so it seems very much like a money grab when you are billing our insurance and then billing us too. The paperwork says "in some cases there may be things not covered" however they charge the fee before seeing you leaving me to believe they don't do anything more for you than they would for the person paying the cash price. I'm glad we walked out without buying glasses there after reading reviews on warranty issues we will stick with who we know and trust. I've already scheduled our eye appts for Sept next year with our local provider so we can have the exams covered instead of paying another $300 (with our a family of 6) because of these odd billing practices. $50 may not seem like a lot to some but that's 2 to 3 hrs of work for others.... That's the difference between having gas to get to work or not for some. I thank God we aren't I'm a position where it devastates us financially but it is bothersome because it seems like they could and should give a little better estimate prior to wasting your time getting there for an appt.

I went in to replace my son’s glasses after they broke, and the experience has been incredibly frustrating. When I first came in, I paid the $25 replacement fee through our insurance plan. The employee who helped me (a tall, thin young man) never mentioned that I needed to bring in the original glasses or lenses in order for the replacement to be processed.
Weeks went by with no updates. When my son’s father called to check, we were told the frames were on back order—something no one had ever informed us about. Eventually, when the new frames arrived, we were then told we needed to pay another $25 to replace the lenses as well. Again, no one had explained this before.
After paying a second time, we were later told they still couldn’t complete the replacement because they needed the original frames or lenses. On top of that, my son’s father was told by a manager that I had already been informed of this policy by a female employee—which is completely false. I never spoke to a female employee at all, only the original male associate.
This whole situation has been handled poorly from start to finish: a complete lack of communication, misinformation, and being charged multiple times without clear explanation. It’s unacceptable, and I’m extremely disappointed in how unprofessional this experience has been.
Taking your child to an optometrist for an eye exam is the best way to learn if your child needs glasses. Many children who need glasses aren’t aware that they do. Signs of vision problems in children include sitting too close to the television, squinting, sensitivity to light, difficulty with eye-hand coordination, and avoiding visual activities like reading and drawing. To see if your child needs glasses, schedule your child’s eye exam today.
Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?
A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients). Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered.
What is the difference between an eye exam and a vision screening?
A comprehensive eye exam is administered by an optometrist and can detect not only vision problems but problems with eye health and general health as well. A vision screening is typically performed by a general medical practitioner such as a pediatrician or a nurse. While a vision screening can help identify vision issues, it can miss many important issues that a comprehensive eye exam can identify. This is why everyone is encouraged to get annual eye exams. Schedule your eye exam today!
Why should I get an eye exam?
An annual eye exam involves more than just updating your glasses or contact prescription. A comprehensive eye exam can also detect eye health issues as well as general health problems. Conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure can be detected in early stages through an eye exam, and this can result in early treatment. Schedule your annual eye exam today.
What should I bring to my eye exam?
You should bring your vision insurance and medical insurance information to your eye exam. If you currently wear any prescription lenses, bring your eyeglasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses. You should also bring any and all questions you may have. Contact your optometrist if you have specific questions about any additional items you think you may need to bring to your eye exam.
