  I am not a frequent user of pharmacies or knowledgeable about their operations, but the absurdity of my experience today seems to justify a review. My mother's physician placed an order at Meridian Haggen before 11:00 a.m.. Mom later got a hold of me to retrieve the prescription and called Haggen around 1:00 p.m. to confirm that I could pick it up. No notice was provided to the doctor or my Mom that there might be a problem. I reached Haggen, waited nearly ten minutes in line at a time I would not expect to be unusually busy, and heard the person before me instructed to return a half hour later. After I gave the necessary (birth date, etc.) information, I too was asked to return in a half hour, as the prescription was not yet ready. Would I need to wait in line again? Yes, the employee informed me. I returned just over thirty minutes later and waited a full ten minutes in line and only then was told that the pharmacy was out of stock of the item. After that, one of the staff called over to Barkley Haggen (100% out of the way to my Mom's residence), which was not out of stock and would be able to serve me 30 to 45 minutes later. The wait in line at Barkley was only a few minutes, and then I was shown the item and asked whether my Mom or I wanted to pay the 50% copay, which was over $650. I decided the answer was yes, but mentioning the cost to my Mom or me at any earlier point of contact might have been reasonable. While I do not know how Haggen's price on the item compared to what other pharmacies would have charged, but I have to expect that it would well above average, in keeping with the grocery prices at Haggen.

  I have been using this pharmacy for several years now. The staff is absolutely amazing!! They are friendly and always go out of their way to make sure you have whatever you need. Prescriptions are always on time. And this pharmacy actually answers the phone and they without acting like you are wasting their time like most other pharmacies do nowadays!!
