Kinney Drugs is a 100% employee-owned regional chain of full-service pharmacies. Pharmacy services include: free prescription delivery, immunizations (COVID-19, flu, shingles, HPV, meningitis, pneumonia, Tdap, varicella, MMR as well as travel vaccines in VT only), automatic refills, medication flavoring, Medicare Part D plan comparisons, mobile/online and telephone refills, free medication disposal, veterinary prescriptions, and over-the-counter hearing aids. Founded in 1903 in Gouverneur, NY, Kinney Drugs now has 96 locations across NY and VT
Reading the negative reviews here, all I can think is these folks don’t understand the shortages that are going on right now, and also don’t understand what a chain is, and that in general ALL of us, including pharmacists, are affected by the loss of the “local pharmacy” (which, like many things, have all been replaced by chains). As a nurse who thought about becoming a pharmacist instead, I can’t imagine putting up with what the modern pharmacist has to put up with in terms of pressure from the public and in regard to current workloads. I have never had anything but a positive experience with Kinney. Yes—call ahead to let them know you are coming in for scripts, or yes—wait in line only to be told they can do it right now if you wait. This is how they are managing an incredible surge in population in the last five years, and frankly how all pharmacies have worked for as long as I can remember in all of the states I’ve in. Other states have been dealing with over-population for a long time, VT as a whole hasn’t caught up with the influx of people relocating here during and after COVID. As for the missing children’s Tylenol on the shelf, yes this is absolutely awful, but sadly—the kind of thing that happens with chains. I remember the old couple that owned the corner pharmacy in the town over from us when I lived in Virginia… they would never have missed something that critical—or they would have gone in the back and given you their own. That is not the day we live in. Kinney corporate is who you need to be yelling at. Either their supply system is broken, or they need a new supplier at that store. Either way. The folks that staff the pharmacy appear to be working really hard to keep up with all of the recent changes that came with COVID, and then the flood. I just pray that the people here complaining are not folks who moved up here in the last few years thinking they moved somewhere ready to take on all of us, including myself. Welcome to VT and welcome to 2025, and call Kinney corporate if you want to see the supply chain fixed. If Kinney corporate decides to shut down a pharmacy due to poor reviews, you all will be driving to the Walmart in Berlin—keep that in mind.

Everytime my doctor calls in a prescription I could have waited 8-10 hours for them to fill it.... But somehow when I get there the answers is always "oh it's not ready yet, give us about 10-15 minutes"
In my honest opinion that's inexcusable considering how have you taken 8-10 hours to fill it but can magically do so now all of a sudden in 10-15 mins. Sad and poor excuses.

Not a regular customer but got a script from dentist. Went to pickup and they had it ready in like 20 minutes. They were super busy but accommodated me and other ppl waiting fairly fast. Polite, helpful and understanding!

I was promised that they would have my meds on the same day every week. Week number four and they don't have them ready. What am I supposed to think of their service now?
