  Home Instead in Virginia Beach has been an absolute blessing for our family! The entire Home Instead Team deserves praises, from the managers to the workers, and everyone in between! The administrative staff are professional, responsive, and genuinely caring. From scheduling to communication, everything has been handled smoothly and with compassion. They faithfully go above and beyond to make sure families feel supported and informed. Dana, Asja, Celeste, and Donya are the best and second to none, thank you all for the continual hard work and keen attention to detail! The caregivers are equally outstanding! They are kind, trustworthy, patient, dependable, and treat their clients with dignity and respect. It’s clear they take pride in their work and truly care about the people they serve. Knowing our loved one is in such capable and caring hands gives us incredible peace of mind. Many and special thanks to Julie and Janell for their compassion and dedication!   We have been very pleased with Home Instead and their attention to sending caregivers who are invested in their job and the client. Lisa Banks has been in our home during a difficult time and has brought such a positive attitude and helping hand to my husband as I recovered from surgery. Can’t say enough about the services we have received.

  Donya Johnson is fantastic! Always on time, pays complete attention to my care throughout the time, is cheerful and extremely helpful in all my daily tasks. Vontaisha Aggison is always cheerful, has learned all my needs after just one visit and is attentive throughout her time with with me. She is very professional and even helps me with my grocery shopping, cell phone adventures (of which I am challenged), and has a great personality and a joy to be around. Shadara Holmes was one of the first care givers to visit me. She picked me up from the hospital after surgery, took me to Doctor appointments, and made sure I kept all my appointments. She learned all my needs during my surgery recovery and was always here when I needed a helping hand. I don't know how I would have made it through my surgery recovery were it not for Shadara. Shadara, thank you very much. Tiffany Campbell is extremely qualified as a care giver and has a great personality. She knows what my routine is and always insures my needs are met (fixing meals, doing laundry, tidying up around the house, helping find my favorite TV programs.) She always checks that I have the next days food and clothes laid out before she ends her shift. Thank you Tiffany. Chonell Klass is extremely observant and is able to anticipate my needs even before I know I need them. She remembered my routine from her visit and has been extremely helpful in all my care tasks. Chonell is great company as I am pretty much a "shut in" during my recovery from surgery. Thank you Chonell.

  Donya Johnson, Home Instead Virginia Beach, has been one of my caregivers. She is very friendly, compassionate, and caring. She is great company and anticipates my needs without asking or instruction. Always cheerful she is the perfect caregiver/companion. Shadara Holmes was my first caregiver. She brought me home from the hospital after surgery and made sure I was resting comfortably at home. She has served as caregiver other times as well and has taken me to various doctor appointments. She is very professional and organized, helpful and a pleasure to be around. Vontaisha Aggison had my visit routine memorized after just one visit. She is very resourceful and has made numerous shopping trips for me. Vontaisha is very friendly, a pleasure to be around and is always ready to help no matter what the task. Janell Samuels is always at the top of her game! She fixes meals, does laundry and housework without my even asking. She is very observant and noticed a water leak in a pipe and alerted me. The plumbers arrive shortly after I called them and repaired the pipe. I was very fortunate that Janell found the leaking pipe because the plumbers said it could have developed into a major problem. That is the kind of attention one wants in a caregiver. Someone who performs the routine duties but also is on the lookout for situations out of the ordinary that need addressing. Tracey Taylor is very upbeat with a great "can do" spirit. She made sure I had everything I needed before her shift ended. She fixed dinner, cleaned up afterwards and got me ready for the next morning's shift. She is very thoughtful and considerate and cares for her clients.

  What a truly amazing company. You never really research a service like Home Instead until an emergency forces your hand, and we had one. My 85 year old mother who lives in a memory unit of an assisted living community had a fall one week before Thanksgiving and fractured her hip. Four days after her surgery, the day after Thanksgiving Day, they wanted to transfer her to the rehabilitation center who had accepted her with the contingency that we provide them with a 24 hr. safety sitter for the first early days of her stay with them to ensure a smooth transition for patient and staff. This had to be one of the worst times to try and hire a service—a holiday weekend with no advanced notice—and I was panicked because the clock on that available room was ticking. Here’s what you need to know. When I called Home Instead, I expected to hear another “sorry, no,” but from the moment they picked up the phone, it was different. I was greeted by Dana, whose voice was filled with such kindness and understanding. She assured me that, yes, they actually could arrange for someone to be there that same day…that’s what they do. Dana explained how carefully they vetted their staff of caregivers and that they were there to help make difficult situations manageable. I was grateful just to find someone to help us secure that space for my mother, but I had no idea of just how exceptional their staff is. I have met several of their caregivers (remember, this is a 24 hr. Around the clock assignment) and they are all lovely, kind and caring professionals! Trust me when I tell you that these are the kinds of people you HOPE you’ll be lucky enough to find to care for your loved ones. My mother has serious communication issues because of dementia and is frustrated that she cannot speak in coherent sentences. These care takers take the time to speak gently, observe and find a way to communicate and find solutions to an often unvoiced problem. Susie, our first safety sitter, set the bar very high for any of her fellow staff members with her soft voice, kind tone and understanding ways, but those who filled in after her to complete the 24 hour coverage matched her exceptional energy. So far I’ve met Diane, Shirley, Tanya and Jacqueline, all of them wonderful, professional, excellent people and I am beyond grateful knowing they are there for my mother with watchful eyes, learning and taking cues from her to determine when help will be welcomed or whether it’s time to sit back quietly and give her space as she needs it. Home Instead hasn’t met our requirements…THEY HAVE EXCEEDED OUR BEST EXPECTATIONS. There’s no substitute for having peace of mind, especially when it comes to your family. I called quite a few places before I found them. If you need coverage for a loved one, you should make Home Instead your first call…it’ll be the only call you’ll need to make. I am very happy to enthusiastically recommend Home Instead.
