Shawn was great. Adjusted a lot of things on my brother’s wheelchair. He was very knowledgeable.

Shawn delivered our daughters lift and activity chair. He took his time explaining the different functions for each equipment. Very pleasant to work with.

There are some good employees at this branch but Laurie, the woman who answers the phone, is not one of them. I have been dealing with her for several years, she hardly ever answers the phone and has never responded to a voicemail from me. Current situation- she called me 7 days ago to tell me that they have my new wheelchair and wanted to deliver it Saturday. Great, I responded in a voicemail, just let me know what time to expect someone. I never got a reply, Saturday came and went without any wheelchair delivered or anyone reaching out to let know they wouldn’t be coming. I called Monday and left a voicemail with Laurie asking her what’s going on and here it is Wednesday night and I still haven’t heard from anybody. While reading reviews I noticed a scathing one from someone who had the same problem as me, a Saturday delivery set up a no-show followed by nobody letting them know what’s happening when they call. A response from the owner apologized profusely and said how valuable the feedback is. Obviously it’s not that valuable because nothing has changed since then, the exact same thing is happening right now to me. So save your pretend condolences for someone else. Keep them away from me.
Typical NSM customer service.

After 2 years of heavy usage, my Jazzy EVO 613 power wheelchair needed a rejuvination with replacement arm rests, batteries, wheels and foot plate. My technician, Mr. Gellner was professionally proficient with excellent customer service. I rolled out after 1 hour with a smile of satisfication. Having unlimited mobility as an wheelchair dependent amputee is very important. I will definitely bring "Jazzy" back to the Springfield, Virginia location for continued maintenance. Thank you.
Frequently Asked Questions About National Seating & Mobility
What makes NSM the preferred choice for obtaining mobility solutions?
At NSM, we are uniquely positioned to search hundreds of sources for the precise components needed to create a chair that is made specifically to meet the needs of each client. Each chair can be designed for maximum comfort and ease and will provide the specific therapeutic benefits prescribed for you by the health care team. But what really sets NSM apart is our approach. We work from the heart, honoring your journey of independence with efficient, friendly attention that puts your interests first. This is our life’s work—to help others move through life—and we take it very seriously.
How can I work with NSM for my mobility needs?
National Seating & Mobility is a member of your rehabilitation health care team. We work with your physician, nurses and therapists to provide a one-of-a-kind mobility solution customized to your needs and preferences. Because we work in a partnership with your health care team, we require a referral from them in order to be your mobility provider. To help ensure your choice of NSM, you should request that your physician and/or therapist select us as your provider of choice.
How long does it take to get a new power wheelchair from NSM?
NSM strives to complete each timeline phase as quickly as possible without compromising any step in the process. Please refer to this page for the full timeline. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Why must I see a doctor to get a wheelchair from NSM?
Our clients have mobility challenges and are referred to us by therapists and physicians to receive mobility solutions that meets all their unique needs. If you need a wheelchair, your best plan is to talk with your physician or therapist and get a thorough evaluation from a qualified Rehab Technology Supplier (RTS).
What if my medical condition changes?
Contact your local NSM branch and notify us of any changes that may affect the proper fit and function of your chair.
Are there any dangers in using an off-the-shelf wheelchair?
Definitely. A standard or not customized chair can cause more harm than good. People come in all shapes and sizes; their chairs must be designed to fit them. In severe situations, a standard or not customized chair may:
- Cause significant physiological and psychological problems
- Lead to an increase in dependence because it’s not used due to lack of comfort
- Cause pressure sores, or decubitus, due to improper cushioning
- Become obsolete quickly if not configured to “grow with the child”
- Become a major expense to replace or reconfigure, because most funding sources will only reimburse for a new chair every five years.
Do I have a choice of which mobility solutions company to use?
The choice of a wheeled mobility supplier is yours. Discuss your decision with your physician and therapist.
