Overall my visit/procedure went well and Jackquine stood out as the best one there. In contrast to that, the "worst" was suprisingly the anesthesiologist. They also need to not treat people like they get a colonoscopy every weekend and know how the procedures go.

I have been a a Gastro patient at Danville nearly my entire life. I had an excellent experience in pediatrics, but once I turned 18 and was sent to the adult gastro it was like a slap in the face. I’ve been repeatedly met with incompetence, such as during the pandemic I had concerns for the vaccine and was deciding to go to public school or back online because I’m immune compromised, and was told that COVID isn’t real. I switched doctors. The doctor I switched to I repeatedly expressed pain and trouble eating, and was repeatedly dismissed with “you’re in remission”. This happened for about a year. Turns out I’m having an extreme crohns flair up with high inflammation levels, and have lost nearly 20 lbs because I was struggling to eat. I switched doctors again. Now I am being ghosted by my newest doctor while I’m having a flair up, extreme pain, and my inflammation levels are nearly off the chart. If you are looking for attentive, caring, and competent gastro doctors I can assure you as almost a life long patient you WILL NOT find them at Danville hospital.

A family member had a procedure completed by this practice. We have no intentions of getting other procedures completed by them. The CRNA did not review the complete risks of twilight anesthesia before asking the patient to sign consent forms, simply stating that risk was involved. When asking for detailed information on risks, the response was “unknown drug allergies and any disease processes you bring to us”. There was no discussion of respiratory depression risk, medication side effects, and cardiac risks. I would hardly call it informed consent. After being taken back for the procedure, the patient waited in the bed while the provider sat nearby and made multiple phone calls. At one point the provider became frustrated with the person on the phone and slammed his fist onto the counter. The nurse or CMA who was present placed the bite block into the patient’s mouth while waiting for the provider and then a few minutes later removed it saying they forgot that the provider would need to ask the patient questions. When preparing to complete the procedure they asked the patient to roll onto their side. The patient had an IV present on the right side that was connected to tubing. As the patient was transitioning to their left side, while being mindful of the IV site, the nurse or CMA rushed them saying, “come on, hurry up”. The provider spoke with the patient and then told the CRNA to “knock her out” referring to the patient. While this may be their every day, this was our one day. Being mindful of the patient experience goes a long way. It seems they may have fallen into the monotony of repeated procedures. Patients deserve more explanation, kindness, and professionalism. As the quote goes, “people will remember how you made them feel.” When a patient interacts with the healthcare system there needs to be compassion, especially in the setting of having a procedure completed.
