Throughout the last 16 years, my experience with GNC has been mostly positive. It would be very difficult to count how many stores I have purchased from, but over 50 is a decent guess. Today was one of the worst experiences. It wasn't only for one reason, but for many small annoyances. To start, they had nothing on sale or BOGO, so they kindly said, "but we can help you use your points". This comment in itself is an insult..."hey guy, let me help you spend your hard-earned points on our full and overpriced products!" No thanks. So, I asked if they had any Gold Standard Whey, after all, I only go to GNC with the full intent on buying something. This bulky 5'7" 145lb employee immediately said, "oooooo steer away from that, our GNC Pro performance (not Wheybolic) is better than Gold Standard." I instantly knew he had no clue what he was talking about, (feel free to google whey isolate vs whey concentrate), but he opened a door, so I sprinted through it and asked, "oh really, how so?" He proceeded to tell me how "Gold Standard" is a term and nothing more and how the product itself is a "starter protein." The moment he started talking about his results with GNC PRO protein, is the moment I stopped listening. It seems like the employees are undertrained in both the products and true salesmanship. It also comes across that they make commission on GNC Prodcuts which if fine as long as they aren't incorrectly pushed. Do I think it's ironic that GNC stopped carrying the Gold Standard whey by Optimum Nutrition? Maybe. Afterall, it was a better product for a better price. This was just the beginning of the interaction. I STILL wanted to use my 1096 points to go towards a large product purchase BUT neither of the employees knew how the system worked. He tried his computer, his tablet and my phone to no avail. After roughly 30 minutes in the store and nothing to show for it, I left empty handed and went to Costco for a 5lb bag of Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey. My membership expires soon, and I will not be renewing it since the new program requires in-app point renewal and points expire every 60 days.

GNC is a well known chain specializing in vitamins and other fitness suppliments. I dont visit often because those arent products I often require. I visted recently to get a magnesium suppliment and a topical magneaium spray. I was able to find the suppliment I needed, but not the spray. I had to visit a competitor to get that and ufortunately found that I could have gotten the pills cheaper and better at the competitor as well. The shelves seemed sparse as if they simply are not carrying as many products as they could or used to. There is a good chance your local GNC will have what you need, but you may have a better chance elsewhere.
