As your slogan says : A Better Life starts with a Beautiful Smile, not so with my experience at Greater Washington Endodontics of Woodbridge. Had a root canal treatment by Dr. Pollock, about a month ago, procedure which took about 30 mins went well and came out only to be hit by a $14k plus bill at the front office, which i believe was just too much. There was no initial explanation of the Treatment, Insurance and my responsibility costs, which is done at most medical facilities. I was told what my insurance would cover and my responsibility which was about $1400, so paid that with my Care credit card. And I left knowing that everything is done and covered only to find out about a week ago that the company have gone to withdraw $3000 from my bank without calling to inform me the reason. I called them and they said that my insurance never paid their part, come to find out that was a lie told me by one office manager a few days after and am seeking a Grievance and need my money $3000 back into my account and the situation addressed because I called my insurance and they did several payments with claim numbers and this is where my contention is, ending up with an Ugly Smile and this must be addressed.

Dr Richard Pollock Is a fantastic doctor. He’s very knowledgeable and clearly explained my diagnosis and treatment plan. I felt confident in his care because he and his staff answered all my questions and made sure I felt comfortable with the next steps. I was very impressed with the thoroughness of my exam. Dr Pollock was careful and effective, and followed up with me after my appointment to ensure everything went well.

The main issue that I have with this practice is their lack of understanding on how to bill in network patients vs out of network patients. With in network patients you must go by the contract rate that is allowed. You agree with insurance that you will charge x amount for x service. Even if the service is not covered. There is an amount that you are allowed to charge an in network patient. The cost may be 1000 dollars for an x-ray, however, if you are an in network provider and agree to charge in network patients 500 dollars. That is what you should bill them. Not 1000 dollars. Outside of billing. I have had a great experience. They will not own up to something when they are wrong, but that is bad ethics on their part.

Had a root canal here. They charged over 4k for it, and it took 12 minutes. I have since had multiple people look at the treatment and declare it so abysmal it must be redone because it will fail. This is because it was not properly cleaned and was not filled completely to the tip of the root, so Dr. Pollock left a little pocket of festering bacteria in my mouth. It is impossible to thoroughly clean and fill a root canal in 12 minutes. I will be taking them to small claims court. While it might seem fast and easy, root canals are NOT supposed to be fast and easy, they are supposed to be effective, and unfortunately the two are mutually exclusive.
